When it’s the Q’s daughter’s birthday, the pax make the pain-ments. . .

All All MECA Backblasts

February 25th, 2017 By Chum

8, and eventually 9 pax gathered in the sunny May-in-February preview weather for their weekly dose of #TheVet. The Q posted after a quick pre-run with 3 other pax who shall not be named in this BB since they themselves faded back into the day without staying for the workout.

The Q shot out a quick disclaimer at the now 9 pax who remained then led them on a brief Capri lap to warm-up everyone else’s sleepy legs. CL done, we held plank a few moments to catch the six then the Q called for an All-You-Got (AYG) gasser to the flags at the memorial. Nice way to start what was sure to bring a whole lot more hurt.

For the Circle-Of-Pain (COP) warmup we gathered round the memorial, some pax took a moment to pay respect to the fallen engraved upon the markers, then we began:

After the embarrassing actions inherent in a set of Monkey Humpers, the Q led the train of pax out over the uneven ground to the far-away soccer fields after making a painstation stop at the first. Finally at our destination, he “informed” the pax that today was his baby girl’s birthday, and as such we would all be paying for it this morning painfully. So, let the games begin…

We began with a game of 8’s (his girl turned 8 today) across the soccer field. 1 rep on the sideline, mosey (pax choose their speed) across to the far sideline for 7 more reps, then mosey back to the first for 2 reps here and 6 reps there. The scheme continues till finally 7 reps and 1 rep. Yeah if that is not clear enough, it’s no better than the explanation he gave IRL. But the pax figured it out and killed it as always. The exercises used in our little game of 8 was burpees and hand-release merkins. Start with 1 burpee and 7 HRMs, finish with 7 burpees and 1 HRM.

As if all those burpees were not enough, the Q prescribed further payments on his girl’s birthday to forever etch into their memory that the date was 2/25. So now we used the full length of a soccer field (approx 100meters) for some walking lunges in the following scheme.

Some pax ended up lunging the whole length of the field, turning back at the far line, then lunging some more to finish the counts before running back to the start line. The Larry Birds (those who finished first) were directed to hold Al Gore Under the Tree till the six (the last man) came in. But since today’s date is actually 2/25, we had to do this all over again. But for the second round the Q replaced the HRMs with Flying Squirrels (looks like a burpee without the pushup). Once we finished the second round, he directed us to the Wall Ball court by running Indian Style (last man runs up to the front of the line, till the trip is finished)

This Q is never one to shy away from some leg work and since he didn’t get his weekly ride in, it was time to hit the Quads one more time. In the court the pax all took a seat along the wall for a not so quick round of F3 Chinese Fire Drill. In the fire drill everyone sits People’s Chair till each pax has had a turn to run around the 4 courts. 9 pax is a long time to hold especially when 2 of the pax were unclear and ran around a much larger area. It is better to overachieve when unclear of the instructions than to underachieve.

Next the Q prescribed a down ladder arrangement of High Donkey Kicks starting with 10, then 9, then 8 and so on till 1 last rep. Between each set we walked it out to the edge of the court and back.

Now fully spent, the Q led a round of Mary that only seemed to burn a little bit more:

With a few onlookers making comments nearby, the Q finally called time and we stood into COT to count off and give a name-o-rama. During takeout a special prayer was lifted in honor of our fallen brother #Dipstick from the GrandStrand. If you can, please support his family through this GoFundMe account.

TCLAPS to the many pax who tried to roast the Q with some good mumblechatter and some worthy #grumblechatter. Just remember, leave your skirts at home your closet when you come to a LegDay workout at TheVet. Unless your skirt is a kilt, then YHC dares you to wear it. #braveheart

It’s always an honor to lead this group. The Mint Hill pax are growing in number and in strength. It’s all Good.

AYE!
