Who brings an FNG to El Dorado???
All All MECA BackblastsJuly 11th, 2016
Four PAX – including a 15-year old FNG – for a brutally-hot and humid North Deck incursion…
Run to the North Deck –
- Beginning at the bottom of Stairway to Heaven, run up two flights, do 20 hand-release merkens
- Run up two more flights, 20 180-degree jump squats
- Run to the top, 30 bench dips
- Cross the top of the deck, run down the Mineshaft
- At the bottom, do 10 burpees at the base of the first ramp
- Backpedal up the ramp, straight run on the flat level, backpedal up the next ramp, straight run, keep alternating until you reach the top
- 10 burpees at the top, then run down the mineshaft
- REPEATO until time is called
Run back to the launch point
MOLESKIN:
- Very hot and humid inside that deck this morning. Hope you guys are getting hydrated this morning.
- This circuit was really tough, as it seemed like there was no let-up. Going up Stairway is bad enough on it’s own but stopping twice for merkens and jump squats added another wrinkle. Then you think you might get a slight reprieve going up the ramps, but having to backpedal on each incline made that equally challenging. Oh, and those 10 burpees before and after you run the ramps – definitely no rest to be had there.
- After a couple circuits Minnow told me the jump squats were really getting to him. My response: “it’s all getting to me today”.
- Twenty 180-degree jump squats pretty much sucks and should probably never be done by anyone. I’m surprised no one passed out or fell down the Stairway due to dizziness.
- Very happy to see my fellow Harrisburg/Boondocks comrades out there today. Would’ve been an especially light crowd without you.
- We welcomed an FNG today (Tyler White, henceforth “Augustine”). Very tough kid. I was worried the North Deck would be too challenging for a teenage first-timer, but he got thru it with no trouble. Barely had broken a sweat when we got back to the launch point.
As always, thanks for the opportunity to lead.
