MOLESKIN:

The “Morning Hate” was a term used in WW 1 (100 years ago) when the British Tommies would awaken from their 4 hour nap in the trenches at 0400 at the Battle of the Somme.  They would stretch, yawn, drop a cartrige in the bolt and send a salvo of lead screaming at the German trenches and pickets 400 yards away on the other side of NO MAN’s LAND to show em they still hated em, to say good morning, time to wake up, and get to killin again. On July 1, 1916 after days of heavy artillery to soften up the German lines, the British sent 100,000 men over the top to storm the German trenches across the death zone of No Man’s Land.  It was the greatest military blunder in British history with over 57,000 casualties incurred in just a few hours as the Germans came out of their bomb shelters and mowed them down with machine gun and rifle fire.  Over 19,000 Tommies died that very day in No Man’s Land.   Think about that for a little bit. Think of it again when your day is long, life is a grind, your bummed or frustrated, or feeling sorry for yourself.  We are lucky men and blessed in so many ways. Prayers for Trick in Brazil on mission. Stay strong.
