For three weeks, the boys in the Bull Dogs Matters after school program have been playing flag football under the “coaching” (very loosely) of F3 men.   After two rounds of play-offs, the Super Bowl came down to a game between the Panthers and the Oregon Ducks, who won a sudden death overtime game right before the finals.

The Super Bowl went right down to the wire as the Panthers were winning 13-12 but the Oregon Ducks had one last play to tie or win.   Undaunted, the Ducks went for the much harder 2 point conversion and the win.  However, the Panthers secondary once again came thru and batted down a pass in the end zone. As such, the Panthers did win the Super Bowl.

At the conclusion, we gathered to award a football autographed by all the NFL Panthers to one of the boys that had demonstrated leadership and team work over the last few months. Eight boys were nominated based on scoring and teacher recommendation and the winning name was drawn from a hat.  Hopefully, the other boys will pay attention going forward and compete for the next prize.

The Summer Olympics start next week and we can always use more volunteers so please contact me at pchepul@gmail.com for more information.    We gather at 4:50 at AG Middle School each Thursday during the school year.    Attendance every week is not necessary but we do encourage volunteers to make it at least once per month to get to know the boys.
