A Safe Space on 24th Street
All All MECA BackblastsNovember 23rd, 2015
The bell rang for the monthly running of Bonesaw andĀ runners and ruckersĀ from multiple regions across Charlotte gathered in the Amelie’s parking lot.
Pregame:
A trigger warning was issued (#disclaimer) and the macroaggressive plan for the morning was revealed: A #SafeSpace has been established 2/3 of the way up the 24th Street hill, in the parking lot overlooking Cordelia Park. Price of admission to the #SafeSpace: 10 burpees.
The Thang:
Run from Amelie’s lot to base of 24th Street hill. Up 24th Street to the top of the hill (pausing at the #SafeSpace for burpees), left on Pinckney, left on 25th, left on North Davidson, back to the bottom of 24th. Wash, rinse, repeat (#AMRAP).
Spreadsheets from the Gloom:
_ Looked like the leaders on the run (Lee, Winnebago, Marv and Minnow, among others) got 13 reps in. Those of us bringing up the 6 hit it 10 times. T-claps to all who posted — between the sub-freezing temperatures, the burpees and that hill, this morning left a mark.
_ The ruckers got an early 0445 start and were already working the loop when the 0515 runners arrived; great to have those guys out there.
_ Open 24/7, Amelie’s makes a pretty nice coffeeteria (or for those of us who needed to get home to get kids out the door, a good place to grab some breakfast pastries).
_ Great takeout by Jolly Roger. Thanks, brother.
_ Next Bonesaw is a pre-Christmas treat: 12/21.

Well done OBT, just when you think you accomplished something by getting out of bed and making it to the Bonesaw on time, you get kicked in the teeth with over 100 burpees. We are all better for it!
Enjoyed the children’s church choir singing from Etch and Tweetsie
Tclaps to Jimmy O for pulling the ruckers together, that was my last running Bonesaw for a few months, ruck season is upon us and 12/21 is going to be a great day to kick it off!
Good to see a turnout from all over. Always a pleasure to run with Snoop. You know he’s feeling good when he woofs. No one had any privilege or safe space out there on #bonesaw. We all got kicked around.
Reading this makes me think the “safe place of pain” was Optional. Either way it help stem the progression of my soccer arms. Strong field today Lee, Marv, and Laettner added to the usual SS Minnow and Mortimer as frontrunners. Great to see my Brother Ruckers everytime passed them I thought I had chosen the wrong event. Bonesaw always proves to be harder than on paper and I nearly lose my unbeaten streak against Merlot everytime.
Til next month…
Nice addition adding the burpees OBT. BS calls were a plenty on the Slack and Twitter spheres yesterday afternoon.
In true F3 fashion something tells me that by the April running of the bonesaw the Safe Space burpee count may be up to 25 per lap.
