Scoping Out the Grove

6 men met up in the Boondocks for the unofficial first workout. We should have parked closer. Here’s how it went:

Warm up:

One lap around upper parking lot.

  • 25 SSH
  • 5 Burpees OYO
  • 20 IW
  • 5 Jump squats OYO
  • 20 Hillbillies

The Thang:
Long mosey to soccer field, watching out for fences and gates.

On the track:
One lap to check the track for obstacles, plank at the end.
One lap with 5 burpees half way, plank.
One lap, 10 burpees total somewhere along the way, plank.

On the field – Starfish of Death:

  • Leg one – Lunges
  • Leg two – Merkins
  • Leg three – Plank Jacks
  • Leg four – Knee ups
  • Leg five – Sumo squats
  • Body (middle) – 5 squats

Work your way through the starfish with 10 reps at each leg the first time through and 5 squats each time you pass through the middle. Next time through 8 reps, then 6, 4, 2 always doing 5 squats when you pass through the middle.

Called an audible with 5 minutes left to give time for the mosey back to the parking lot.


Naked Moleskin:

  1. Looks like some opportunity for spring workouts in the parking lot. Lanes painted with ten yard markings should provide some fun in the future.
  2. HGBC will be a great location. Not only with the parking lot, but also track, soccer field and other fun.
  3. Keep getting the word out. 6 was a great number to start, but it won’t be sustainable.
