It was absolutely fantastic to see WHAM! come back out this morning for his annual beating, and also shout out to Bozey for gut checking through some running. Great thing about what we do is that there are no podium finishes, nobody is ready or not ready to come out and join us. You do what you can do and then you push yourself to do a little bit more. That’s it. Whether you finish first or walk 90% of it…you’re here, you’re up and moving, and you’re running laps around the people laying in bed. That is ALL that matters.
One of the best things about F3 is the camaraderie, just being there for each other. The accountability we provide to each other, and the encouragement that comes with that. We are all doing well, and we still need that from each other. Big Brother’s is an organization I’m proud to be a part of because it gives me the chance to be that person for a young man in my community who needs it even more but has no one else to turn to for it. If we are blessed then I believe it is our duty to bless others, and boys we are blessed.
I always thought being a Big Brother would take too much time that I don’t have or be too big a responsibility, but one day I got off my butt and did it anyways. As it turns out it fits nicely into my schedule, and I probably get more out of it than my Little Brother does half the time. Just like our mornings together, it is a great pick me up in the middle of the day in the middle of the week for me to take 20 minutes to have lunch with him at Coltrane Webb and play catch, or play Uno, or build Legos together, or any other number of simple activities that we take for granted in our blessed lives.
Shout out to Loveboat, Luthor, and Exit who have all signed up to become Big Brothers and have been amazing with their Littles. I want to invite all of you to come to our annual dinner, on me, and hear about our program and the difference we can make. There will be excellent food, a $50 bourbon bottle pull with very nice surprise bottles in the bag, a good program, and an opportunity to support an organization that is changing lives right here in our AO. There will be an ask at the end, but I am not even asking you to consider that, just come hear about our program and the work we do and consider if it’s something you’d be interested in being a part of. And if not, that’s ok too, at least we had a fun dinner together.
