Prayers for healing for Hipbone, Homeland, Marlboros brother and his family. Prayers for TrickDaddy and safety as he returns on mission to Brazil. Prayer for LMU M and son in CALI.  Prayers for all of those in AFGHANISTAN suffering and in fear. Prayers to bring them to safety.

Man cannot re-enter Nature except by temporarily rehabilitating that part of himself which is still an animal. And this…can be achieved only by placing himself in relation to another animal.” Jose Ortega Y Gasset

We have all been blessed or some would say cursed with a big brain.  It is our greatest asset allowing us to think, create, articulate language, physics, mathematics, interact with our world, and to imagine; and sometimes our greatest liability leading us down bunny trails studded with worry, anger, fear, depression, and pessimism for the world that is our home.

Take time to take care of your brain just like you do for your body.  Put down your smartphone if you dare for 2-3 hours.  If you cannot, try getting back to nature where it is easier to be closer to God.  Take just yourself or your child fishing.  Take a walk in the woods.  Get a dog and reconnect to nature thru their eyes and how they see the world thru smell.  Ortega’s message above infers that we are animals that have kind of lost our way and that need other animals for fellowship and good health. This could be a human animal or a canine or any other.  Dogs are easy.  They like us because we both like the same things. FOOD and living in CAVES (modern but still really just a cave).

So get busy taking care of your brain and mental health this fall.  Get back to nature. Slow down.  Spend time this fall outside and reconnect with nature. Get a dog if you don’t have one. I have 4 of them.
