14 for a Gauntlet on 14
All Rolling Stone BackblastsMay 20th, 2021
My daughter turns 14 today, so 14 pax posted to “celebrate” with a Greenway Gauntlet.
Disclaimer given, and we had warmarama right in the lot as MC showed up unfashionably late…but he gave us 14, so we will allow it.
Warmarama: SSH, WMs. Merks, MCs, PPs
The Thang: The Greenway Gauntlet
- Effectively Greenway suicides at the following points of interest: both bridges, the bench and the gazebo
- Lunge walk across each bridge going out, bear crawl them coming in
- 10 burpees every time to you pass the bench
- 20 step ups once you work your way up to the gazebo
Mary: No time for that
COT: Prayers for George Weekes having bypass surgery today, Kyle, MC’s friend and his recovery, my FIL, AA, Jimmy Buffett. Happy Hour this evening at Johnny Brusco’s. Praise for my daughter’s bday, which since she is the oldest, marks the 14 year anniversary of me becoming a dad. Much like an F3 workout, fatherhood is challenging but awesome.
Moleskin: Well, that sucked pretty much as bad as the first time we did that. It had been a while. Great work pushing through by all. The original running was NOT during daylight savings time…this works much better this time of year. It can get a bit dark back on the greenway, but no worries as the sun starts peeking not long after launch.
- Good to have Greek back out for an appearance as he already had dropped a bunch of weight the last time I saw him and it appeared he has leaned out even more. It’s one thing to drop weight, it’s another to also elevate performance…which he clearly has as he crushed the gauntlet. We could rename this the Greekway Gauntlet after that effort, but we won’t. Great job brother.
- Not far behind Greek was Backstop. He asked if he could run out ahead when we started and I just chuckled thinking about him running out of steam early…he clearly did not as I barely saw him again. No video tapes to check form out there, but I’m guessing he did just fine in that area as well. All In wasn’t that far behind him.
- Peanuts also separated from the pack himself with some strong work.
- Great to see Lean Cuisine back in the gloom as we had 2/3 of the Stoner frozen food section represented with Marie Callender delivering strong work per usual…where’s Birdseye?
- YHC seems to be developing a pattern of scolding children at his Qs as lunge form was addressed a couple of times…not sure if he should lighten up or continue to “educate.”
- Most finished or were close, great job. We could start earlier with less warmup and explanation to ensure all get done, but honestly, I think this worked well and we should shoot for finishing…and maybe with a bit of time for Mary for all, even with a standard warm up.
- By YHC’s semi-strict standards of any bootcamp over 2 miles equating to a running workout, one might say that this didn’t completely feel like that as it felt like we spent half the beatdown bear crawling.
Thanks for joining me, and as always, it is a privilege to lead.
Happy Birthday Reese! Dad loves you!
