Amazing weather greeted seven PAX as they arrived for a Tuesday night beatdown at HCES. With February drawing to a close, YHC had been planning a Black History Month theme, but when it came to my attention (thanks to Man Down) that the day was also the one year anniversary of Ahmaud Arbery’s death and that it was being marked with 2.23 mile runs, well, I wanted to fit that in too.

WARMARAMA

Mosey to the MS lot for Windmills (x13), Weed Pickers (x13), IST (x13), and Hill Billies (x13).

Mosey to the track for…

THA THANG

The routine went like this: The Q would pose a question related to Black History (and American politics more specifically) to the group, which would then use the time it took to run a lap around the track to discuss and settle on a collective answer. A wrong answer meant burpees for the PAX, a correct one meant burpees for the Q.  (As a result, YHC needs ibuprofen.)

Repeato for seven questions and seven laps.

Between each lap there were the requisite burpees but also 2 exercises for 23 reps each to be done OYO (as in 2/23, the date Arbery was killed). Those exercises were: merkins & squats, dips & plank jacks, incline merkins & Freddy Mercuries, Carolina dry docks & lunges, jump overs & mountain climbers, SSH & LBCs, back to merkins & squats.

Mosey back to HCES.

MARY

The W (x15) and Pretzel Crunch (15x per side).

MOLESKIN:

  1. The PAX fared much better on my questions than I had expected. In fact, YHC was doing so many burpees that TWICE Mr. Poppers volunteered to do my share for me. Good guy, that Mr. Poppers!
  2. Our mosey to the track + seven laps + mosey back added up to 2.23 miles, the distance that people across the country are running today (2/23) to #RunWithMaud and #FinishTheRun.
  3. Max, our FNG from a few weeks ago, returned and received his name. Please be sure to give a hearty welcome to Superbad!
