The Lost Art of the BB

All BackBlasts Backblasts

December 22nd, 2020 By Hammer

5 Men arrived by horse and carriage (well, the Mexican was on a Donkey, YHC). The snot nosed teenager was on a black stallion of course….more on that later.  It was an especially beautiful morning under the star of Bethlehem, and we went back in time.  A time long, long ago when men were adamant and disciplined enough to pen a backblast.  Shortly after the days of walking up hill both ways, in the snow, under extreme heat advisories, during a hurricane, dodging tornadoes all while trying to keep your mask from blowing off your face.  It was even before Zoom, which is code word for “sleeping in”.  A time just before SLACK, the killer of the backblast. The beatdown went a little something like this….oh yeah, the only constant was, YHC was about 1:33 minutes late….but who’s counting?  Well, everyone, the PAX started without YHC.  What’s up with that? No PAX left behind?  Yeah, we gotta work on that, but I digress.  PS   No disclaimer was made, i.e. the Q was late OR at the time, we did not need disclaimers.  You decide.

Warmorama:  SSHx20; ISO x 15; Penny Pickers x 15; Windmill x 12; C+ for participation.

The Four AO’s for the day: Courtyard, Small Hill, Shelter and Rocks….in no particular order, literally.

Courtyard AO:  Run to AO; 25 Step Ups Each Leg (DO NOT FALL!!!! You know who you are, Mr. Arse bump); followed by 15 muscle ups.  Mosie back to Central Command for 5 Burpees.

Small Hill AO: 7 to 1 Ladder of CDD at the top and LBC’s at the bottom OR you can walk around the parking lot reminiscent of an old geezer holding a beer with a cigarette in his mouth, scratching his belly/balls and yelling at his son to DO MORE reps, USE proper form, GO Faster…Mosie back to Central Command for 5 Burpees.  OR if you rode in on a black stallion, you must weigh about 36 lbs (all muscle) and be able to do at least 10 burpees….so you do, no problem!

Rocks AO: Pick a Rock, simple….unless your OCD makes you return to the AO and make special markings on a particular rock which still requires you to spend at least 10 minutes to find b/c it is still the gloom.  We did “decurls”……show to know; and 50 chest presses.  Mosie back to Central Command for 5 Burpees.

Shelter AO: 10 Partner assisted pull ups OR reverse declines OYO; 25 dips; 25 incline merkins; Repeato.  Note to self, don’t bring up old wounds….like mosquito bites, I think I saw a tear when he was reminded.  He shall remain nameless……ahhhh…..ahhhh……VULTURE!  Bless you!  Mosie back to Central Command for 5 Burpees.

Mary:  only had time for low flutters; Rosalita; Pretzel Crunch after all that…
