The Rhythm and Blues of Mint Hill Metal

All All MECA Backblasts

September 19th, 2020 By Nimbus

YHC rolled up at about 515, and started to assemble the fun.  Sandbags, cinderblocks, rucksacks, curl bar, jump rope, ab roller, kbells, and some merkin bars.  The only items we were missing were Hornets fire hose (yes I’m aware of how bad that sounds) and Chum’s construction tire.  Blue Crush is the first to roll in, and after that the cars started piling in.  YHC had planned for 7-8 pax, and plan B was for 10.  Yet as fate would provide 12 total pax show up.  In the past we have had much less than that so it was great to see new faces and such a big turnout.  Mint Hill has been growing and it was great to see.

As I was a sub for Gopher’s Q, I felt it important to include some tunes.  Gopher typically has the Motown going, so I wanted to put together something he would be proud of.  Got a great playlist together of Stevie Wonder, Sly and the Family Stone, Spencer Davis Group, Wilson Pickett and James Brown.  YHC is a big fan of old school R&B and we had it cranking.

Warmup – take a lap around the facilities

SSH x 10

Low Slow Squats x 10

Potato Pickers x 10

The thang:  2 cinderblock are set up with a cone approx 40 yards away.  1 pax carries the CB’s around the cone and back.  Once finished the group rotates to the station to their right.            AMRAP Stations: Merkin bars, Sandbag Bent Over Row, KB tricep ext, Ruck lunges, Curls, Ruck Squats, Ab Roller, Russian Twist, Mtn Climbers, Jump Rope.

We get through about a total of 4-5 full cycles and time is up.  YHC had not been able to post for a few weeks, and it was great to get back into the gloom with an incredible group of men.  Everyone was maxing out and by 615 we were good to go.  Announcements and then COT.

I appreciate the opportunity to lead such a great group, and I’m looking forward to the next one.
