The Honeymoon is Over

All BackBlasts Backblasts

August 18th, 2020 By Spud

23 expectant pax came out to ASEC only to realize that their huckleberry no longer went the extra mile.  The weather was perfect.

Warm Up:

Dat Thang

Pretty straightforward, three 22 ladders between light poles 2 and 3 in the Belk Lot with reps at each end increasing and decreasing by 2 respectively, and always adding up to 22.

Ladder 1: Dry docks and squats

Ladder 2: Core killers (!) and burpees (!!!)

Ladder 3, in case anyone got there: Merkins and Boxcutters

Time called at 0609 and mosey back to ASEC for

Mary

Alphabet Core, PR did it at YHC first F3 beatdown, so The Q wanted to pay homage to 2 years in that way.

Prayers

For Tombstone’s family, especially his mother as they lay her mother to rest today.  For Cat’s son Alex as he begins a new position.  Praises for Anvil as he finishes up Tennessee tomorrow, it’s been an arduous journey and despite all the ribbing we give him about it, it’s a hell of an accomplishment.  Make sure to come to his Q tomorrow as he crosses the line.

Moleskin

It was a good beatdown, even if it wasn’t the fancy shit you’re used to getting from YHC.  2.15 miles logged on the watch with over 100 of each exercise.  A few of our studs even got to ladder 3, so the Q is glad he thought of that one on the way in.  Burpees suck, and that is why we must do them.  Welcome back Stone Cold and welcome to FNG Matt, bigtime effort from you both and good on you Hops for getting them out.

As always, there’s a point to the workout.  This one was to underline how going to the routine and doing the bare minimum can be effective, but it sure does suck.  In our lives whether it be at work, at home, and especially in our relationships with our families and friends, it’s important to make sure you don’t fall into a thoughtless routine.  It’s important to break the wheel from time to time, even during pandemic times.  Make your M dinner, even if it sucks she’ll appreciate it.  Bring your employees something nice. Try something other than missionary.  Take the kids to do something they’ve never done before.

YHC broke the routine in starting F3 two years ago.  Many thanks to everyone whose paths I’ve crossed.  Especially El Ab (EVEN THOUGH HE SACKED) and KGB for EHing me. It’s been a real boon in my life and waking up at 0500 to workout is never something I thought I’d do, let alone look forward to, but it’s now something I can’t do without.  You guys are some of my best friends and the guys who keep me accountable and present, and even through this pandemic we’ve continued to work together because I really don’t want to get out of shape physically, mentally or emotionally.  Thanks to all of you for being my brothers in the gloom, and let’s all make sure we do something to break the mold every day.

AYE!
