2020 MeCa EH Challenge
All Afton BackblastsJuly 28th, 2020
Alright boys, 2020 has been crazy, but with circumstances as they are, there may never be a better time to EH sad clowns. Men are literally stuck at home with very few workout options with most workout facilities closed. Adult men can easily drift into social isolation during normal times, and it is no doubt much easier in current times. We know all men need what F3 provides…its time to bring it to them. This is the official announcement that August 2020 is the month of the MeCa AO EH Challenge!! For the slightly uninitiated, EH is short for Emotional Headlock…basically the recruitment of FNGs and Kotters.
This is simple, the AO that brings in the most FNGs and Kotters in the month of August will be declared the 2020 EH Champions and AO stickers will be produced and awarded (free of charge) to the winning AO. Bragging rights will be theirs for the next year. Harrisburg narrowly emerged victorious last year over Concord, Precinct/Tradition and Kannon. Who will be this year’s champion?
Rules:
- Any new FNG (Friendly New Guy) that receives an F3 name will count as 1 point towards the AO monthly total
- Any Kotter that returns that has not posted since COVID shutdown will count as 1/2 point towards the AO monthly total.
- Tiebreaker: Most FNGs recruited
- If for some reason, there is still a tie after that, we will figure it out…how is that for definitive:)
- If you happen to EH someone to an AO other than your home AO (lives closer to another AO.) If you travel to that AO where he is then named, the EH credit goes to your AO (everybody still wins here.)
- YHC will need to be notified of any freshly named FNGs, so as to add them to the totals on this spreadsheet right here.
In regards to FNGs receiving names, it is generally customary in MeCa to name FNGs on their 2nd post, as it gives time to generate a more “appropriate” name and also weeds out any “one and done” posters. Last year, we said naming on the 1st post for the purposes of this challenge was fine, but not this year. The AO Leads have decided that we should stick with our normal naming process during this challenge as well.
Eh’ing FNGs is impactful on a number of levels. The FNG is impacted by being brought into a brotherhood that helps him accelerate his fitness, fellowship and faith to become a better leader in his family, work, community, etc. F3 is also impacted as FNGs bring new energy. Men have a natural desire to help others, and FNGs afford existing brothers an opportunity to assist them on their journey to get better. I have noticed that the AOs that have recent FNGs have a noticeable uptick in overall enthusiasm and not, for a lack of a better term, a more stale atmosphere. The takeaway is, FNGs bring a whole lot more than just another brother into the fold. The purpose of this challenge/competition is to be REALLY intentional about EH’ing for a month for the good of everyone involved. So, get on out there and bring in some new blood and energy to MeCa. Note: Let’s continue to be vigilant about the fairly easy to follow current guidelines of 6 feet social distancing and no shared coupons, so that FNGs feel comfortable in our workout environment.
On another note, our very own The Farm, appeared on the F3 Nation podcast to talk about race in our society and F3 as well. One question that was posed was, “how does F3 bring in more men of color?” It was astutely observed that we certainly tend to form relationships that those that look most like us. There are men of different races, nationalities, etc that live in the MeCa region. So during this EH Challenge, let’s make a concerted effort to bring this gift of F3 to ALL men.
We are not just going to reach OUT, but we are also going to reach BACK. New guys aren’t the only ones that need EH’ing. Brothers that may have fallen out of posting need a good headlock, or a few, to help accelerate their fitness, fellowship and faith as well. Let’s use the month of August to show them that we are thinking about them. It’s time to Welcome Back, Kotters! Once again, for the slightly uninitiated, Kotters definition: Greetings of welcome to a man who Posts to a Workout after a prolonged absence. This has then also evolved into any brother who has been gone a while being termed a Kotter. Let’s bring em’ back! Note: There will be pax who are intentionally not posting due to the current conditions with the pandemic, let’s continue to be respectful on that.
At the end of the day, this is truly about impacting men’s lives so that they can lead and impact those around them. So let’s bring in some new blood, and bring back some old blood as well. Good luck!
