Dusty Rhodes? No, Dusty Hose

All Afton Backblasts

May 9th, 2020 By Audit

Awakened by the excitement of Opening Day, I headed to Dorton Park and pulled in with one minute to spare. There awaiting me were the fine men of Afton ready to shake off the rust and get to it.
Hop Hunter and Tug Boat Willie didn’t run quite far enough in the early session so headed off down the trail while we did a quick disclaimer and moseyed off to the tennis courts for a little Warm-A-Rama where it was good to see our old friend Louis doing his usual great job of keeping the park in shape.  This consisted of:

After getting the creaks out of the joints it was time for a quick mosey back to the parking lot. I had been pondering the best way to maintain our social distancing and decided the easiest was a version of a big tape measure, an old 50’ fire hose. After grabbing the new toy we headed across to the medical office lot to start The Thang:

Repeato for a total of 3 rounds. Pax did squats while the hose was rolled back up then back across the street to the shelter for Mary.
With 5 minutes on the clock, I thought it was an excellent time to remind the pax of the 80 year old retired Marine who held a plank for 8 hours. After some quick math, I decided to see if we could be at least 1% as tough as that gentleman and we planked it out to the finish and our being joined by Shooter (and a large dog). Glad to see the back getting better!
Closing out brought up prayer requests for our brother Amway and the handing of the torch (or shovel flag) to Afton’s next leader – Hop Hunter.
Thank you all for making it out today and helping me through the last minute Q. I can’t express how much I’ve missed this.
Until the next time!
