Rolling Stone Olympics
All BackBlasts BackblastsFebruary 28th, 2020
9 Olympians made it out to the gloom this morning in chipper 37 degree weather…the rest of you missed all the medal ceremonies but can at least savor this version of the Bob Costas recap…
5:20 YHC arrives to see Sparknut and Several passport PAX who made their way over to join the Stoners this morning…was great having Fairy Godfather and 8mile among us. The rest of the crew rollin and we get going…
5:30 Disclaimer…3 relay batons of the PVC variety are handed out as we mosey over to HRMS. Mosey becomes what later became know as the UBR (ugly baton run)…it was a poorly conceived spontaneous pseudo Indian run with bad handoffs and very confused Pax…finally YHC ran ahead to lead the olympians out of their darkness and into the marvelous light of the well-lit HRMS parking lot for our warmarama.
Warmarama
- 20 SSH in cadence
- 20 IST in cadence
- 20 Cotton pickers in cadence
- 20 Hillbillies in cadence

Sugar made the mistake of complimenting me on my improved counting skills…boy did I prove him wrong as we progressed through the workout.
Split 9 pax into 3 teams of 3…each team practices relay handoffs as we mosey towards track behind HRMS
Stopped at the Wall for 20 Air Presses in cadence while relaxing in People’s chair
Continue baton handoff practice as we finish the trek to the track of our 2020 Olympics–F3 Rolling Stone edition.
The Thang
YHC commences confused explanation of our epic 800m Relay Race. Pax express their evident confusion via lively mumble chatter as we run a warm-up lap and map out our various starting positions with burpees at each mark. Each team puts a man at each mark and the race begins…
Pax at position 2 hold a plank while waiting for Teammate 1 to run up and give a “go” call. Pax at position 3 are knocking out LBC’s until Teammate 2 gives them go call.
In theory it was an 800 meter race where each pax ran 133m each, twice. yeah….we were confused too…especially when the 3rd group realized we had to run twice as far because partner 1 was now at position 2. (In hindsight, and in case anyone tries to replicate this madness in the future, we should have initially positioned Teammate 2 at the 200 meter mark, with groups 1 and 3 would be together at the start. The race should have been 3 laps total (1200m) and each pax would have run 400m each…I guess there’s always next time!)
After completion of the epic 800m relay, Pax near the gate commenced with Freddie Mercuries OYO until Pax in BFE moseyed over to join
5:55 —Thang Part 2–“SOCCER IS AN OLYMPIC SPORT”
- Pax run to mini-field in front of HRMS trailer to find cones and soccer ball
- 3 goals set up for 10 minute game of 3 goal soccer. 2 teams each scored 1 goal so no clear winner. Much mumble chatter and many laughs shared.
Mosey to greenway entrance for Monkey Humpers
- 20 MH in cadence to an audience of both a car and a bus thanks to pausing a few times so our audience would not miss the beautiful sight of our backsides.
- Jail break to Mary.
Mary
- Pax who scored in soccer match are honored with a Guest Q of Mary workout of their choice.
- Fairy Godfather led us in the Runner’s crunch–in cadence–10 each side for total of 20.
- Heatstroke led us in Homer to Marge and 2 spread eagle exercises that have girl names I can’t remember–legs up is maybe the “Rosalita”…we maybe did something else random I can’t remember…
- Recover Recover.
Circle of Trust
- Countoff
- Nameoff–Name, F3name, age (Pax respond appropriately–30s=hate,40s=f3name, 50s=respect)
- Announcements–Stoners trying to raise $300 for Big Brothers Big Sisters
- Prayer Requests–LoveSeat’s dad passed away suddenly this week. My friend Andrew’s dad also passed away suddenly yesterday.
- Prayed for those affected by coronavirus, courage to grieve well for those dealing with losses, courage for the rest of us to be present with our hurting brothers as they mourn, gratitude for first responders and all military, gratitude for the brotherhood we have in F3.
Thanks guys for allowing me to Q what was definitely my most disorganized Q to date…but it was fun! Sorry to disappoint you Mud Bowlers from last week who were hoping for a repeat…I woke up quoting Sanka Coffee in Cool Runnings: “I’m feeling very Olympic today!”
P.S. please feel free to inform me for anything I called by the wrong name…definitely don’t have the Exicon memorized yet.
