9 PAX joined the QIC this beautiful muggy morning for a beatdown to honor those who climb The World Trade Center Towers 18 years ago today. The PAX were about to get a glimpse of what the firefighters faced walking up those stairs that tragic morning.

The THANG

Very simple beatdown today. PAX were instructed in the Preblast to bring a weighted vest, backpack, rucksack, or Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (An air pack for the non-firefighters reading the post). The goal climb 110 flights of stairs wearing the weighted vest, or air pack in 45 min. Most all PAX’s had some kind of weight vest and completed the task in 45 min. If you are counting, it was 18 trips to the top of the deck and two additional floors to equal 110.

This day is a tough one for the YHC, considering his profession and being on the job here in Charlotte the day planes flew into the buildings. This graduating high school class will have the first graduates who were not born on 9/11. The motto for 9/11 is “Never Forget”, is not about revenge, but rather to honor those who lost their lives during the horrific event. About half way through our climb this morning a brother Fireman from Harrisburg along with his 4 teenage daughters joined the climb. YHC thinks this is amazing and gives Triple T Claps to my brother Fireman not only for bringing his family out for the climb at 0545, but he was dress in his full set of turn out gear. We may have collected a FNG in the process. Thank you to all who serve others before yourself.

As always it is an honor to lead.

Aye!
