The PAX can’t count
All BackBlasts BackblastsJune 23rd, 2019
Sixteen men and one 2.0 showed up at MCCP on Saturday for yet another disastrous beatdown. The Q promised little to no running today and very nearly lived up to his promise. Here’s how it all went down.
Full disclaimer and then slow mosey for about 50 feet and circle up
WARMARAMA
- SSH IC X 10
- HB IC X 10
- CP IC X 10
- MC IC X 20 (ab challenge box #1 checked)
- Merkins IC X 10
THE THANG
Walk about 20 feet to the conveniently placed ladder with pre-printed weinke. The rules for the 1000 rep challenge were explained. The PAX circles up and takes turn calling cadence for one of the following five exercises in order:
- Burpees X 10 OYO
- Lunges X 15
- Merkins X 20
- Squats X 25
- Abdominals X 30 (Dealer’s Choice)
- Run around the island at the other end of the parking lot (maybe 50 yards) and return
Each Q was allowed leniency in how he wanted to call cadence. There was a mix of single count, full cadence, and on-your-own. We mixed in some lunge walks, jump squats, CDD, wide merkins, and inclined merkins. The PAX was encouraged to diversify the ab exercises and we managed to work in all 40 WW2 sit ups and 40 Freddy Mercuries as required for today’s ab challenge. The counting got a little creative as well, and some of the PAX took full advantage of the “modify as needed” portion of this morning’s disclaimer. In all, we got as close to 1000 reps as possible, and had plenty of great mumble chatter as well.
There was no time for MARY, but we completed 300 or so ab exercises so I think we were all covered.

MOLESKIN
- The beatdown ended up sounding like a math word problem, as one PAX left after 400 exercises, one left after 800 exercises, and our 2.0 alternated between the circle and the back seat of dad’s car (ahhhhh…air conditioning!). In total there were roughly 15,700 exercises completed between 7AM and 8AM. Well done men (and boy)!
- We started out in the shade but were in full sun by the end of the workout. The run portion got considerably slower (and hotter) by the end of the day. We decided to blame @Powerball for some reason.
- @Barrister questioned why he received considerably more insults than @Alcatraz from the PAX so we explained how the whole “earning respect” thing worked. I still don’t think he got it. These millennials are going to ruin the world when they finally grow up.
- T-Claps to @Glock, @Prince Charming, and @Snape who completed a heated two-mile run (sprint) before today’s workout. Two of them finished the run in under fourteen minutes (WOW!) and the third wasn’t far behind. FYI two of those men are over fifty years old. RESPECT!
- Seven men showed up for coffeeteria and a Q Source Grinder on Impact at Barista Craft after the beatdown. Thanks to @Glock, @Sapling, @Ranger, @Sandman, @Murdock, and @Gump for showing up. We were glad to get an update from @Ranger about his cancer scare and were able to pray for him before we left.
- Please remember @Ranger and his family this week. He goes in for surgery on Tuesday at 1PM. Also @Swamp Thing, who suffered a foot injury on Friday after an impressive bout of showing up for beatdowns this month. Prayers going out to you guys.
- Don’t forget Murph Monday on June 24 at 530AM at the Sports Club. The week of disaster concludes on Tuesday morning at HCES with a much more run intensive beatdown. Hope to see you there.
- The sign up genius is looking extremely empty. Please sign up to Q if you haven’t done it in a while. We especially need signups for Monday Mettle, Wednesday Cruise, and Friday Speed. F3 is a volunteer led workout and we can’t do it without your help.
