Miles, smiles, FNGs, headphones, passports, warmarama and more
All The Valley BackblastsNovember 10th, 2018
YHC rolled in shortly before 0500, where Sparknut awaited. 15 miles on the docket today for the two of us. Drove separate as Sparknut wasn’t sure how well his body could handle the large red pill this morning. Spoiler alert: it held up just fine. Body glide applied and we start with a few miles and return at 0530.
We arrive to find a couple of passporters Amway and Shooter (who double dipped by taking the haul down to Mint Hill after for their bootcamp – check, check) along with Brutus. FNG “don’t call me Eric” Tucker arrives and we gather from him that this is his 2nd F3 workout as he is friends with Gentle Grizzly and has been out before (and might possibly already have an F3 name.) So whether he likes to go by his first or last name will be a moot point in about 45 minutes as he will be getting at least a provisional F3 name when we get back. We take off down Prosperity, right on Claude Freeman, up Governor, right on Mallard Creek, left on Prosperity and back to launch. Landlord joins us at endex after some OYO running.
Strong run by FNG Tucker. Maybe he was geeked up by the blaring music in his headphones, as it became clear early that he could not hear a word any of us said. So naturally we discussed his imminent F3 name as he ran right along side of us, and the fact that he could not hear us became the focal point: Oblivious, Mute, Helen Keller, 2nd F, Friendly, Fellowship, Miracle Ear (and other manufacturers of hearing aids), Beats, Sennheiser, Skullcandy and more.
COT. We carried on for a while on our FNGs name but finally settled on Skullcandy, welcome!! Looking forward to seeing Skullcandy out for more F3 activity, he seems hyped about it and he looks like a strong one. Light discouragement applied to future headphone use at cruises applied – the fellowship is key. We bid adieu to Skullcandy, Amway and Shooter – great job gents! Brutus, Landlord, Sparknut and YHC take off towards Davis Lake.
We skip the planned route of extra mileage down to Mallard Creek and back as we are a bit behind schedule. So straight through Wellington and Cheshunt to Davis Lake. Brutus guides us most all of the way through Wellington before heading back to the hacienda. Thank you my friend. Landlord has bolted off in different directions at a brisk pace. Sparknut and YHC arrive at Davis Lake, jump in to their bootcamp warmarama then head back. Landlord jumps in with us for the return run. The 3 of us discuss the Huntersville Half coming up that we are all doing. Landlord bemoans the fact that he is fast and the other pax are slow and that he has to solo train. Ok, he maybe didn’t say it like that…but you know…kind of…hahaha! We drop Landlord off at his house (thanks for moseying with us brother) and head back to endex.
15 miles in the books. New “longest runs ever” for Sparknut and YHC as neither had run for 15 miles in a continuous fashion before. So much better running with brothers than by yourself. As always, it is a privilege to lead. Have a great weekend!
