Rolling Stone APFT July 2018 Edition

All Rolling Stone Backblasts

July 12th, 2018 By Heatstroke

With Schnitzel on hopefully very short term IR with plantar fasciitis, YHC took the helm for the bi-monthly APFT at Rolling Stone.  13 men arrived ready (or not) to test themselves against the standard.  With a disclaimer we moseyed to the school’s front alcove while getting in some high knees, butt kickers, toy soldiers and the world’s greatest stretch.

Warmarama:

The Thang: The APFT

2 minutes max push ups – chest must hit partner’s fist and then lock out at the top for one repetition.  No resting on knees or on the ground.

2 minutes max push ups – fingers interlocked behind head and bring yourself up to your knees.  No resting on your back.

2 mile run – pretty self explanatory

  1. Great job men!

  2. Alright, alright, I hear you calling me out Heatstroke. I guess it’s time to get the slow-mo camera out to find out if the problem is my “locking out”, or the optical refresh rate of the Q, unable to keep up with my super explosive push ups. ????

Nevertheless, thank for leading and tracking the APFT for us. It’s always a tough standard to be measured by, but much needed.

    1. Yep, I was talking about you…and ahem…Firestone:) Pretty sure the Q’s optical refresh rate was just fine, ha! Gotta lock out boys!

      1. I just figured we all had to get to the same elevation, so it wouldn’t be fair for us tall guys to go all the way up and lock out.

        1. Ha! Confession: At an APFT a little less than a year ago, I put “92” down…total crap. I’d go low enough (I believe) but definitely negatory on the lock out. I probably was more in the 65-70 push up range then.

          1. It may time for another episode with the form police. This time only 3 exercises: merkin, squat, lunge. There may be several arrests.

  3. Yes, the age grading curve helps, I see I had the 4th best score and didn’t even have to cheat to get there…

    Until next time.
