Let’s Hit the Track, Jack
All Highlands BackblastsJune 8th, 2018
Nine men showed up early this morning (except for @Sully who was late) for another round of Friday Speed at the Highlands. YHC was starting to wonder if he was in the right place with the large number of PAX but apparently the weather is nice, everyone is getting healthy, and the word is getting out. @Buffalo Bill even brought an FNG with him. After conveniently forgetting the disclaimer and piecing it together along the way the PAX was off.
Mosey up to track with backwards runs, side shuffles, high knees, and butt kickers along the way. Serpentine up and down the hill beside the middle school several times getting steeper each time.
THE THANG
- Spread out evenly around the track for a warmup mosey. Two different guys take turns sprinting to the man ahead of them and then resume the mosey while the next guy takes off. When the guy behind you catches up you sprint back up to the next man. This was supposed to work like a relay race but we got a little bunched up and it was kind of a fail. At least we got a nice warmup out of it.
- Partner up and spread out to the four corners of the track. Partner one sprints up to the team ahead of them while partner two moseys until the man behind him catches up. Again this was supposed to work like a relay race with 100+ yard sprints followed by 100+ yard moseys but it really didn’t come together very well.
- Forget the relays, lets go the traditional route instead
- The PAX split up into two teams and headed for opposite corners of the track. 200 meter sprint as a team followed by a 200 meter mosey back around to the starting point. Repeato.
- Each team sprints a full 400 meter lap around the track followed by a 200 meter mosey/walk.
- Back down to a 200 meter sprint as a team followed by a 200 meter mosey/walk back to the starting point. Repeato.
- Split into four teams and head to the four corners of the track. 100 meter sprint followed by a 100 meter mosey. Repeato X 4
- Running out of time so we abandoned the 50 yard sprints and headed back to the parking lot.
COT AND BOM
MOLESKIN
- Thanks to everyone who posted today. The weather was perfect for running this morning. This might be the largest group we have had for Speed in a while. And that’s without @Pavarotti or @Stoli too.
- The track offers a lot off possibilities but the sheer size of it makes communication a bit of problem. Sorry about all of the hiccups with the early relay races. They sounded better in my head.
- Welcome to FNG Josh, co-worker of @Buffalo Bill and now to be known as @American Pie. Say hello to your mom for me.
- Welcome back to @El Guapo and @Slappy, neither of whom I have seen in a while. Also welcome back to @Chavez, who I have seen recently but is a former Speed regular who had not been back in a while. I enjoyed partnering up and catching up with you this morning.
- @Gordo has the ‘Q’ at MCCP tomorrow morning for #Last Call. Don’t miss it.
- Happy last day of school to CMS students and surrounding areas. We won’t miss the traffic.
- If anyone wants to take a stab at the ‘Q’ for Speed there is a spot in the Signup Genius for it. There are plenty of prior backblasts that you can borrow from if you want to. @Pavarotti and I usually cover it by default but we always welcome new ideas.
