Post Q School Practicals with a bit of OJT

Q School day at Rolling Stone!
We’ve been fortunate to have some FNGs join us over the past months here at Rolling Stone. That blessing coupled with efforts to load up the RS SUG lead Master Q Heatstroke to organize an 0500 Q school for this morning and since I had already signed up to Q, we thought it’d be a good idea to continue the instruction and give guys some practice at HTC. No problem but not wanting this to be 45 min of instruction on HTC (although that’d be fun) I thought I’d make this beatdown 45 minutes of examples of different types of workouts (with hard learned tips on what not to do).
So…rolled in early (0527, yes early for me) to an almost empty lot. My first thought was that Heatstroke played hardball at Q school and took his students down the Greenway for some hazing, which sounds fun but we’re not that kind of Men’s group (usually). 0530 came – disclaimer and we headed to the b ball court in hopes that the class would find us on the way and they did just in time for SSH.
Warmarama
SSH, Windmills, Tempo Merkins and more with Q school students on the lead (sort of – keep working on your HTC brothers, you’ll get it!)
Time to get it! Partner up and line up at baseline of B ball courts
The Thang
Dora 123 – Combined 100 Merkins, 200 Squats, 300LBCs.
P1 does exercise, P2 runs to fence and back – flapjack until above completed.
– Pretty common workout and a go to when you can’t think of anything else. Any 3 workouts will work and an rep combinations work (50/100/150, etc). Pitfalls: running distance too far; killer exercises; no we’re not here for easy but if you can provide some type of attainable misery, that’d be nice. Making it so exercising PAX hits failure every time isn’t always productive.
The Ladder!
Line up on the brick wall. 10 to 1 ladder, Carolina Dry Docks/squat Jumps.
– Another go to and you can always throw some variation in with a hill, Quadraphelia, Bear crawl, etc. Pitfalls: None I can think of, go for it.
Mosey to the Teacher Lot.
The Rotation! (Varsity Q stuff here and by that I mean this one can quickly end in a CF with harsh mumble-chatter!)
Count off by 4s. 1s to the end of the parking lot, school side – Apollo Onos. 2s to the end of lot street side – Plank, 3s as you where forming a triangle 30 or so yds between groups – WWII situps, 4s will start the rotation. Got time! 4s run to relieve 1s, 1s run to relieve 2s, 2s run to relieve 3s, etc, etc, etc,…… Changed up the exercises as we went with Iron Cross, Burpees.
– Complicated?? Oh yeah. Not a go to but if you’re brave enough to attempt it the key to this one is in the explanation. Can also do this with just 2 stations and 3 groups. Pitfalls: Distance between points too far making it too long before being relieved by other group; killer exercises. Remember, we’re after ‘attainable’ misery!
Circle up for Mary (sort of)
Did a bunch of stuff here giving PAX an opportunity to practice their HTC.

Hope ya’ll enjoyed this and got a decent beatdown out of it to boot. My goal was to share some of the go to types of workouts that can get you out of a bind if you find yourself with no ideas of what to do. Remember, if all else fails you can always go with POS (Pearls On a String – run exercise run exercise etc, etc…)
Please keep the Schwab family in your prayers, terrible and surprising loss. Also continued prayers for Marie’s mother, Spauldini’s wife, Col. Olson, people in Guatemala. Congrats to Whatley and M on 10 yrs!!
Oh and then there’s this:

Aye!
Appreciate you using the beatdown as a Q School continuation Sugar! Great job illustrating and leading a variety of F3 staple workouts. Plenty of options displayed for the new Q.
Does anyone else wonder if @zima returns from lunch on work days and yells out to his colleagues “halfway there!”?
YOU KNOW I DO!!!!
