In Honor of PFC Michael R Demarsico

All Skywalker Backblasts

April 6th, 2018 By Sparky

On August 16th, 2012 Michael R. Demarsico was killed in action while serving in Afghanistan. He was only 20 years old. Michael was a great person. He was selfless, he put others before himself. Michael chose to become the point man for his platoon because he wanted to keep them safe. After finding 15 IED’s Michael was killed when he came across his 16th. Michael leaves behind a Mother and a Father, 3 sisters, and 1 brother. But you cannot forget his loving community and friends. The day that Michaels body came home thousands gathered along the route to pay their respects to the fallen soldier. At Michaels funeral once again thousands gathered from the funeral parlor to the cemetery. He was truly loved by many. He will always be our hometown hero.

It was my honor to lead 10 men on this Red Shirt Friday. We honored fallen hero PFC Michael R Demarsico. YHC went back to the archives for a workout that was led last year for Red Shirt Friday. The workout is called Eagle’s Talon which is a play on one of Skywalker’s trademark beat downs (Chicken Foot). Eagle’s Talon adds another level of “suck” to Chicken Foot. Although this workout is tough, it’s nothing compared to what those who put themselves in harms way to serve our country go through. Let’s pray for those serving our country and remember those that have paid the ultimate price.

  1. Great work today guys. I hope you all have a great weekend.

  2. @Sparky, this workout was damn tough. There’s a reason you’ve never seen me at Chicken Foot; the hills of Skywalker are no joke.

Initially, goal was to keep @Grinder in sight. I quickly modified to maintaining @BuffaloBill in sight.

My soreness can’t compare to the sacrifice of those we honored.

  3. Nice job today @Sparky. That workout was exhausting! When my ‘M’ asks why I have to stay home and sit on the couch and watch golf this weekend I can blame you.
