Superbowl of F3: Fall 2014 Mud Run UPDATED!

All All MECA Backblasts

October 7th, 2014 By Crash

As the gloom lifted on Saturday, October 4th, 2014, over 600 pax from around the country descended upon the Leatherneck. While we may have come from different cities, states, and backgrounds, we had one thing in common: a bond, represented by a single letter and a single number, enclosed within a circle. (For those of you that aren’t quick on the uptake, YHC is talking about the F3 logo).

The THANG:

6.4 miles, 36 obstacles, MUD.

Once again, F3 DEMOLISHED the competition. Out of the top 20 teams overall, F3 holds 16 of those spots. That’s right, 80% of the top finishers were F3 teams. Team South Beach CRUSHED it, shaving slightly over 6 MINUTES off their Spring time. In fact, all 3 of the Top Teams (South Beach, Bigfoot, and Tempo) shaved considerable time off their spring performance, putting in SUB-50 times!

Our bodies were muddy and our beer boat was full, as was our hearts after a moving Operation Enduring Warrior presentation, where Dredd presented them with a check for $8000 and their very own shovelflag. One amazing thing to note is that we raised almost $4000 right there, at the Mud Run, within the timespan of about 30 minutes. WOW. YHC is blown away by the generosity and outpouring of donations at the 11th hour. I spoke with OEW later in the day. Not only were they speechless at the generosity of our donation, but the REALLY, REALLY dug the ShovelFlag (Thanks Raider!!!)

Moleskin:

As you may know, a Mud Run doesn’t get organized by itself. Nor does one man do it. It takes a team. This year, we had a FANTASTIC team that helped to make this one of the best Mud Run’s yet. Here are the pax members that made this wonderful event possible and deserve your T-Claps!

If I missed anyone, please let me know!

F3Columbia’s Robber set HUGE expectations with the success of the Spring 2014 Mud Run. He also set an AWESOME template for future Mud Run Q’s to use.

What we have, what we do, and what we are is, to use a word that doesn’t fully capture it, amazing. NONE of it would be possible without you, the pax of F3Nation. Your spirit, dedication and generosity is what continues to make this thing we have grow, get better, and do better.

  1. Great work by the F3MudRun Q team! T-Claps can’t fully express our appreciation for your hard work pulling off another great event. Well Done!

  2. It was an incredible experience. I’m so happy to be part of such an amazing group of men.

  3. T-Claps to all!

Looking forward to my first mud run in the spring. You heard it hear first.

    1. This was my first Mud Run of any kind, and it was a great experience. I highly recommend it.

Thanks to all that worked to make it the success that it was.

  4. Well done Crash & all. An awesome event that I will not miss!

  5. Thanks to ALL who helped make this event happen. No doubt it’s not an easy task, but #teamwork prevailed as always. Last April YHC could only participate as a photographer (shoulder issues). But being there to see all of F3Nation was inspiration enough to get my shoulder back in working condition and participate this past Saturday. All I can say is WOW! The race/course is awesome, but being amongst 600(+) PAX is an incredible experience. Looking forward to April.

  6. As a newcomer (April ’14), I have been blown away at the phenomenon that is F3. Beyond the infinite workout options and their benefits, the camaraderie and sharing spirit I have witnessed and experienced is worth the price of admission (5:30 am workouts) alone. I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to run the Blue Ridge Relay and now the Mud Run with my F3 Harrisburg brothers. The Mud Run may be classified CSAUP, but with $8,000 going to OEW, it is way more than CSAUP. #TClaps to @Chowder for making the MeCa logistics flawless, and to all the others who made it happen.

  7. Great job done by all. Next spring lets set a crazy goal to raise like 150K for the OEW. I say we have a head fundraising Q and also regional Q for the fundraising. The Reginal Q is already slammed with getting guys and all the moving parts on that end. I know i was and really dropped the ball and know we could have done more. Lets hit the corporate sponsorship heavy. They do get a tax write off.We could even have an award for the region raises the most cash. Maybe we could get Dredd,OBT,and other F3 leaders to do a leadership that the requirement for entrance would be $1000 in corporate sponsorship. 10 X $100.00 x 50 Pax = 50K Just some idea the throw out there or a auction for stuff. Maybe gear, cool stuff like learning to Mumble Chatter with Nibbler or some other really cool stuff like that. Learning to flyfish from Raider Just throwing it out there. Why not.

    1. Aye FEMA. You know what we call a man with “ideas” in F3? The Q, that’s what we call him. Lead Away Brother.

      #Starfish

    2. “Learning to flyfish from Raider Just throwing it out there.” Would be glad to put someone new on some wild brook trout or wild brown trout on slightly less rugged terrain. (Nibbler has had that adventure. Took my dad this weekend for his first wild brook trout). Good meals and one or two nights cabin lodging included, and maybe we can sip cheap bourbon on the back deck.

I have a friend who is a level-II shooting instructor (for shotguns, shooting at clays). For another idea, I had already been trading messages with him for a benefit shoot to raise $ for the same cause.

      Way to lead on this.

      1. Pretty sure I could also arrange for some casting lessons by one or more IFFF-certified casting instructors (for the highest levels of instruction, suitable for beginners to advanced and expert) and also a guided 1/2 day trip from a professional fly fishing guide on some local warm waters.

  8. Thanks to all who made the Mudrun possible. The preparation was incredible and God provided such an awesome day! I have been doing F3 since May and never thought it possible to get my 62 year old six through something as grueling (for me) as that. I appreciate all the “Ayes” I got from everyone on the course and especially appreciate my teammates Mungo, Pebbles and Loose Screw for getting me through physically and mentally. I know that Sad Clowns are supposed to be in the 30’s to 40’s age group, but believe me you can be an older Sad Clown. F3 works just as well regardles of what season of life you are in. Thanks to all my Speed Trap Pax for the encouragement to #getbetter.

    1. Aye Stirrups. No age requirement for #SadClowns. Nor is there a maximum age on swallowing the #RedPill and becoming a #HIM. #IMPACT at any age Brother. All you have to do is decide to be #ThatSomebody. Aye.

  9. Awesome job by all who made this possible. Went off without a hitch! Well done Crash and team!

  10. Well done men, T-Claps to all who made this such an awesome day.

  11. #Starfish in action. #I2 all over the place. And we have only just begun.

  12. looking back at the pictures…i really miss that beer boat….
