MOLESKIN:
40+2 days ain’t that much different from 39 and 363 days, which is why I didn’t go too deep into 40, other than the reps because that’s what’s expected. Just here to kick ass and take names as I always try to do. Everyone stuck with it to the best of their abilities and nobody got hit by a car which is typically a good thing. Just around 3 or so miles of hilly goodness. On the way back like 4 or 5 dudes, Q included, stepped in shit, which Ticky advised was left by a human, potentially Frosty. If a bunch of us are out with ecoli soon, you’ll know why. Everyone sweated, which is always the goal.
The perception that 40 is now the downside of your life is way outdated. People live longer, medicine is better, food is healthier (you just have to find it). Unfortunately the narrative alone defeats many people, causes them to give up, not power through injuries, pain, or their alarm clock. When people give up on wellness, they give up on their families, their future, and themselves. The men of F3Concord inspire me as they show that giving up cannot be an option. We had a 57 year old guy run a month’s worth of marathons across North Carolina. Several 50 somethings ran up and down the mountains of North Carolina for several years. A bunch of 40 and 50 somethings just finished a 24 hour trail race (and then, to a man, abandoned the Q’s 40th birthday Q. Sad!). It’s an accountability mindset sort of thing that F3 prepares you for. Many people will never get in the shape most of us are in during their entire lives. So screw that mindset, screw that narrative, and let’s keep bucking the trends. Let’s continue to be there for each other, support each others exploits, and inspire each other as we dominate the calendar and win this race that they call life. Let’s keep each other alive.

“If you look into the distance, there’s a house upon the hill
Guiding like a lighthouse, it’s a place where you’ll be safe to feel our grace
cause we’ve all made mistakes and if you’ve lost your way
I will leave the light on” – Tom Walker
