Matthew 11:30 “For My yoke is easy and My burden is light”

14 men, from all backgrounds and experiences, assembled the Cross over Concord. The Cross is a unique thing. It means something different to everyone. Some just see a couple of pieces of wood. Some see death. Some see nothing but a void. Some see promise. Some see life. What does it mean to you?

In reality, the Cross is the intersection of hope and hopelessness. God became man, and experienced what we all will, death, but he overcame it when he came off the cross. The intersection of the natural and super natural. The resurrection brought victory. But he still had to experience the cross beforehand. The pain, the suffering, the sacrifice…..all led to victory. It led to hope!

The cross is dirty. The cross is burdensome. The cross is hard. It’s cumbersome. Awkward. Certainly not perfect.

I heard “it’s pinching me”, “sand down the splinters”, “there’s no easy way to carry it”, “it’s exhausting”

All are true. Picking up your cross, whatever it means to you, will cost you something and it won’t be easy. Carrying the cross is not a happy, Sunday School mural. It creates a target.

But, what I have learned, and what I witnessed, is that through pride, we try to carry it all ourselves. As men, we don’t want to ask for help. We want to stay in control. But as we trekked up and down UNION St, I saw each of you picking up the others burdens. Bringing relief. Bringing support. The feeling when it was lifted off of you and you handed it off….GLORY!

God is waiting, you just have to make the choice. Yoking yourself to the world, with all its troubles, pains, suffering, rules, regulations, legalism, etc will break you. Yoking yourself to the King of Kings, and Lord of Lords, wont void you of any of it, but it will allow a Father, who loves you, to bring relief through the tough times and take you to another victory…..the victory over death.

There’s hope in the cross. Thank you all for allowing me to lead, and ramble. It’s honor to be part of F3 Concord.
