Ride the Snake

Five men, including 2 intrepid FNGs, hung out with the Q on a perfect Saturday morning in Downtown Mount Pleasant to GET TO WORK.

  • Mosey about a half mile to a concrete pad somewhere in the country.
  • SSH x 20
  • IST x 10
  • Loose Change (penny pickers for the uninitiated) x 10
  • Arm Circles
  • Runners’ Stretch
  • Mosey another short distance for

Q set up a winding circuit around several buildings off of Cook street, including the MP Library.  The circuit had 7 stops

  1. Burpees x 5
  2. Walk Out Merkins x 10
  3. WWIIs x 15
  4. Carolina Dry Docks x 20
  5. Low Flutter x 25 (4c)
  6. Squats x 30
  7. LBCs x 35

Then pick your poison and run either a half mile route up Walnut St and back to the start, or a shorter quarter mile route around Gordon funeral home and back to the start, depending on whether you wanted to prioritize reps or mileage.  All pax started with the longer route, but upon recognizing the hilly terrain the longer route foisted upon them, opted for the shorter route thereafter.

After 4-5 rotations, time was called, and all park moseyed back to the AO for…

All Broga, all the time.

We prayed (eventually) for the MP elementary student who tragically lost his life after being hit by a car while checking the mail, as well as for our country and our men overseas and also named the FNGs (more on that in a bit).

Solid little Saturday where QIC got around 3 and a quarter in.  Homeland and Marlboro took the lead as gingers rarely have the opportunity to do and logged another half lap so they were around three and a half when time was called.  Thanks to those men for making the drive from Concord, I know that everyone appreciated the support, especially YHC and I’m sure Mayhem as well.  FNGs always think they’re in shape until they run into pax who are in shape.  The backdrop of a low hanging fog over a plowed field and killer sunrise was perfect, and is worth the drive on its own.

After asking MQ Mayhem whether we were naming after one or two, he made the call that we were naming after one beatdown (a move I fully agree with given that we’re growing the AO and naming is a great way to hook in FNGs).  Thus, FNG Jellystone (Carson) and FNG Boeing (Michael) were named and brought into the fold.  YHC got so tied up in naming that we forgot to pray, but that was remedied at a 100% attended coffeeteria. Both FNGs have already committed to attend future beatdowns, and we hope they’ll continue to spread what F3 is all about.

If you have any friends, relatives, or even acquaintances in Mount Pleasant, work on getting them out.  Mayhem has done a great job, but he can’t do it alone.  A couple of FNGs is a great first step.  This is an AO with a lot of potential, a lot of great places to do runs, beatdowns, and after hearing the sweet siren song of a Concord Man’s cadence, who wouldn’t want to return?  Keep supporting our MECA brothers, and I will do the same.
