Convergence Training Run

All East Charlotte Backblasts

March 9th, 2021 By Othello

After healing from last weeks Brighton Early trauma , YHC decided to try something a little different.
0515 YHC arrives to 37 DegF and clear, beautiful morn for a run!
0520 Pax start to arrive (1 pre-runner abound-ed)
0525 15 MH brothers post, all did NOT have a :shit: nights sleep
0528 Lousy disclaimer given, way better than Gusto’s, and there was no, “hey follow me, I know where I am going” cat-calls from Sanctions (BTW, where were those 2 guys?)
0530 We are off…..12 runners and 3 ruckers

Pick a partner and run in pairs down 51 towards the CVS.  Each pair will carry a shovel-flag and hand off to each other during the run.  This is practice for the next convergence or CSAUP we sign up for.  We have many newer Pax who never experienced this (GinG) and were enlightened today.

Turn left on Wilgrove-Mint Hill road and continue to Happy Hollow (now, one of my beloved hills in Mint Hill).  Plant the flags at the top and run down to the “Do Not Enter” sign and back up.  Pick up your flag and run back to home base.

The route looked a little like this

Everyone stayed together, knew the route, didn’t get lost and arrived back by 0614.  Enough time for a little stretching until the six showed.

Count/Name-O-Rama

TAP’s
1. Bluecrush’s co-worker (Dave?) suffering from COVID
2. Bluecrushes friends baby having kidney surgery
3. Everyone else who is suffering, sending prayers for you.

Moleskine
1. I hope you enjoyed something different today, you don’t realize how heavy that shovel-flag is until you run with it.
2. Did anyone get the tag # from that Mustang that passed me on Wilgrove-Mint Hill road.  Looked like it just got out of the car wash 😉
3. Wasn’t sure if we were going to make it back in time but you all did great with 2 minutes to spare.  That means, you are all getting faster.  4 mi is our new standard.
4. Want to get faster, run with faster people.  Partnering up is a great way to do that and we should more often (modify as necessary)
5. Always an honor to lead. AYE! SYITG
