Celebration of the Elderly

All Highlands Backblasts

October 15th, 2020 By Disaster

Seven men who were probably up puttering around the house anyway decided to make good use of their time and showed up at the Highland Creek Golf Course to see what kind of nonsense @Disaster had in store for them. After a quick yet thorough disclaimer that no one really listened to we were off to the parkway for a mobile warmarama as follows:

Mosey out of the parking lot and down Highland Creek Parkway, stopping for 19 SSH IC outside of the rabbit hole. Mosey through the rabbit hole to the Elementary School, stopping in front of the portico for 10 IST IC. Mosey down to the locked gate, stopping for 10 WP IC. Mosey back around to the bus lot, stopping for 10 MC IC.

THE THANG

Groans could be heard from most of the group (excluding @Surf & Turf, who wasn’t really sure what he was seeing) at the sight of YHC’s familiar yet unpopular step stool weinkes X 2. After a ten month hiatus it was finally time to bring back the Sharknado. Several of the PAX had made the smart choice to head out of town for a golf tournament today and they were probably glad that they did. Here’s how it all went down.

Start at the top of the Dropcloth 200 (TM) track for the first exercise. Run straight (not the usual loop, you’re welcome) to the back side of the lot, touching the curb and then returning for the second exercise (about 1/10 of a mile). Repeato for the next 25 minutes or so, keeping track of your reps. Exercises were as follows:

@Glock got out to an early lead and never looked back, and the rest of us were just competing for second place at that point. Once time was (mercifully) called at 605AM, the final standings looked like this:

  1. Glock – 18 reps
  2. Chowder – 17 reps
  3. Number One – 16 reps
  4. Disaster – 15 reps
  5. Black Sheep – 14 reps
  6. Surf & Turf – 13 reps
  7. Conchito – 12 reps

As the PAX leader, @Glock accepted the opportunity to sign the Q’s shark, which sounds weird, but there is an actual rubber shark that has been signed by all nine of the previous winners. This was @Glock’s third signing, making him the all-time leader as well. Times were down from previous challenges because of the additional running between the golf course lot and back. @Google still holds the all-time record of 26 reps, which may never be broken in my lifetime. All of the PAX looked strong today, and the back and forth format (vs the loop format) allowed us to offer positive reinforcement to each other for additional motivation. The temperature was perfect as well, coming in right around 60 degrees this morning.

Everyone grabbed a clipboard, ladder, pen, or shark and we headed back to the golf club, stopping for MARY along the way as follows:

MOLESKIN

  1. At name-a-rama we realized that we had six respects, including the recent addition of fifty year old @Blacksheep. @Surf & Turf clocked in at 49 years and 8 months so we (okay @Chowder) agreed to round up for a 100% showing of the respect club. Proving once again that old people really do get up early.
  2. It was great having @Glock back to the 530AM post after several months of him posting at the afternoon session instead. Clearly he hasn’t lost a step.
  3. Please remember the F3 blood drive happening tomorrow (Friday 10/16) at Prosperity Presbyterian Church (beside the traffic circles at Prosperity Church Road and I-485). There is a link to sign up online on Slack or you can just show up in person if that works better for you. There is a severe shortage of blood due to COVID-19 so show us just how much of a man you really are and give a little bit back to the community. It only takes about fifty minutes and you get unlimited snacks when you are done.
  4. @Sandbag has the Q on Saturday at MCCP with a special tribute to Hudson Fryar. Hudson is the five year old son of an F3 brother in Arkansas who recently passed away unexpectedly. Come out and show your support for Hudson and his family as part of F3 nation.
