Q was wondering at 5:24 if we were going to have anybody show up, but then the cavalry arrived ready to challenge the elements and be better than the average bear. We started with a mosey around the corner to the church picnic shelter. Q did the mental math and saw that the perfect number of pax had arrived to fit comfortably under the shelter, a good omen from Mother Nature. There were a lot of in’s, a lot of out’s, a lot of what have you’s. A lot of strands in the old Popeye’s head but I got the hang of his new tabata app.

Side straddle hops, Arm circles, Air squats to warm up.

Next we began a rotation of two exercises for 45 seconds a piece then 30 seconds of running in place with the following exercises:

Wide arm merkins

Diamond merkins

LBCs

WW2s

Core killers

Carolina drydocks

ISTs

Plank

Mountain climbers

Over head press

Goblet squats

J los

Smurf jacks

Deertix

Burpees

Low flutter

Dips

Merkins

We got through exactly 2 cycles of all the exercises.

After lots of stream of consciousness thoughts from Catfish, slick product placement from Franchise, and Tombstone’s gallows humor we nailed a solid workout in 5738% humidity. We prayed for Chad, a friend of Hipbone as he faces a health battle. We prayed for the Hurricane Sally victims and those without power or a home at all. The gulf coast has had a really tough year so if you know anyone from there, reach out to them.

For that matter reach out to anyone. Go retro and use your phone to make phone calls. Everyone can use some help or even just a conversation in these times. Folks may not be able to figure out that they need you to call until you do and they realize what they were missing. It could be exactly what they need to get through virtual elementary school, bizarro sports, or just the monotony of pandemic life. We fight this thing with masks and vaccines, but we also fight it by helping out our fellow man or woman either financially (tip extra when you can) or socially. You guys have helped me incredibly this year and I only hope to pay it forward.
