Fear the Spear! Is that a man’s bras?
All Comanche BackblastsSeptember 5th, 2020
11 PAX ranging in age from 11 to 61 got together at MCCP this morning for a Last Call beatdown led by YHC. A common comment/observation this morning was how pleasant the temperature was at low 70s with very little humidity. The good Lord also provided us with great view of both an almost full moon that was still clearly visible as well as a bright sun. YHC got to the AO early to survey the condition of the fields. While ensuring we would be on dry field, YHC couldn’t help himself but listening to the young couple who was getting ready to exercise. You could tell the fine confinement due to Covid was getting the best of them since they were arguing from the time they got out of the car to the time they hit the field. The last argument was about what they were going to do for beatdown today, but the young lady took off by herself and the young man started following still complaining. Unfortunately, like many of us sometimes do, they completely forgot to appreciate and be thankful for the small things (beautiful weather, the fact they are healthy enough to exercise, have each other, are in a free country, and were bless by the presence of this fine group of men. A full disclaimer was given while we were all taking bets on how late @duffle bag would be. We then moseyed to the upper part of the parking lot and circled up for warmarama.
WARMARAMA
- Mummy x19
- Skiers x15
- Prisoner Squats x13
- Gremlin x11
- Smurf Jack x9
- Plank-A-Rena x5
2/3 into the warmarama, @mineshaft came running to the warmarama circle. Since it was not yet 7:10, @duffle bag killed additional time in his car to fully ensure that he would be late by his typical 10 minutes. But luckily for him, he was at least there for Smurf Jack and Plank-A-Rena. The Plank-A-Rena is no joke, as we could tell by @ONJ already grunting in round 1. LOL

We then circled up in the middle of the field for some Doomsday clock
- Doomsday clock Squat hold to Jump Squat. Goal was to reach 100 but for some reason the count went from 78 to 99 when it was @conchito’s time to call 79. To the pleasure and applause of the PAX, YHC says well done my friend
- Doomsday clock plank to Merkin. Goal was 50 which we were able to accomplish without using @conchito’s creative counting.
Mosey toward the hill while picking up a bunch of empty bottles left by some very inconsiderate people. The sad part is that a 2 trash cans, and 2 recycle cans that were pretty much all empty were about 20 feet away from where the majority of the trash was left. Come on people! What happened to leaving a place in better shape than you found it?
Hill Station
- Run to top of the hill, do 10 – ½ burpees, run down the hill, do 10 lunges
- Quadrophilia to top of the hill, do 10 – ½ burpees, run down the hill, do 10 lunges
- Run top top of the hill, do 10 – ½ burpees, run down the hill, do 10 lunges
Mosey to the Rail Station by the baseball field and partner up. Partner 1 was the counter and partner 2 continues to perform exercise until partner 1 is done. The then swap exercise until we completed 3 rounds.
Rail Station – 3 rounds
Partner 1 Partner 2
- Dip x 15 Boat position hold
- Derkins x 10 W
- Wall sit with air presses x 15 Mason Twist
Mosey back to the fire hydrant and walk back to the bottom of the hill. By that time, we crossed path with @chowder and @sugar who were rucking. To the PAX shock and displeasure, everyone noticed that @sugar was wearing long pants in beautiful 70F but will wear his short shorts when it is 25F. @powerball also reminded @sugar that the PAX couldn’t see his well defined calves when he is wearing long pants. Alcatraz had to remind the group that this is not that kind of men’s group.
Back to the Hill Station
Since we still had 14 minutes before recover, recover, we went back to the bottom of the hill to the PAX displeasure and concerns about not having enough time to stretch. YHC called bull s@it on that and re-assured the PAX that there would be ample time for MARRY and Stretcharoo!
- Quadrophilia to top of the hill, do 10 – ½ burpees, run down the hill, do 10 lunges
- Run top top of the hill, do 10 – ½ burpees, run down the hill, do 10 lunges
Audible was called after second run, but @duffle bag seemed to be disappointed that we didn’t have a 3rd up the hill run. Seeing the sadness in his dad’s face, @minecraft decided make his dad proud and had a solo run up the hill feeling like Rocky Balboa when he got to the top of the hill. Only this time he yelled out loud; “Duffle Bag” instead of the famous “Adrienne”. Ok maybe YHC mis-remembered, to quote Roger Clemens, but YHC might not be too far off on the young man’s accomplishment.
Walk back to the parking lot and circled up for MARRY while keeping a close eye on student driver in the while Honda Accord. I believe this was another excuse from the PAX to delay YHC’s beatdown and by more time toward Recover Recover. Although YHC is all about safety, we proceeded with the following;
MARRY
- Poutine Low Flutters x15
- Toe Touches x10
- IT Band and hip stretches while on our six
- Arm and shoulder stretches while standing
COT/BOM
MOLESKIN
- Good turnout this AM considering the holiday weekend!
- Great to see a young man (Minecraft) spend his early Saturday am with his dad and a bunch of old dudes.
- Nice to run into @sugar and @chowder and then joining them at Coffeeteria afterward. Also very nice to find @murdock waiting for us at Barista Craft. Really enjoyed the 2nd F.
- As were making our way to Barista Craft, @gordo asked YHC if he was wearing a red bras while YHC was changing from wet shirt to dry shirt. YHC explained that while he has somewhat what we can call “man boobs”, it is actually not a bras but a heart monitor strap. But very observant @gordo!
- Having said that, a lot of discussion and support for restarting “The Shield”. The Shield was something PAX would attend monthly to discuss various topics, which were not scripted compare to the Q Source for example. The Shield was alive and dead before YHC started F3. We are thinking about hosting The Shield once a month either a dedicated place like 26 Acres, or somewhere else or even taking turn hosting at someone’s house, while respecting Covid protocol. We could meet outside, someone’s basement, garage, etc. We could host either Thursday while enjoying Thursday night football or Friday after work as Happy Hour.
- Prayers for @brinkley who will have knee surgery Tuesday. Praying for successful surgery and prompt recovery. Let us know brother if there is anything we can help with during recovery (yard work, 2nd F, etc).
- Prayers for @sandman’s M Lisa as they start to further investigate various treatments for he MS. This has been mentally difficult for her as you can imagine.
- Prayers for my father in law Richard Milam who is going round # 2 of cancer battle.
- Anxiety and depression in teenagers have gone significantly since start of Covid. Now adding other stress factors as social unrest, isolation from friends, and etc. it is very difficult for teenagers. Please continue talking and more importantly listening to your children. One of my daughter is battling anxiety and depression right now, which i wouldn’t have never thought in a million years that she would face the mental illness battler. Mental illness doesn’t discriminate, so let’s keep raising awareness.
- Q school will be held at Highlands Sept 16th at 5:30 am. Our very own @alcatras graciously agreed to be the Q school lead. Please encourage some of the new PAX to come and even veterans PAX who could use a refresher on proper disclaimer, counting, cadence, etc
- As always, a pleasure to lead this great and a privilege to be Master Q of this AO.
Have a great weekend and stay safe!
