5 men came out on a Monday morning to start the week and Afton’s third year out right.  As promised, the weather sucked (hot and humid) and the company was good.

Last night I thought we might try the mount Afton loop but decided it was too hot to run mount Afton over and over so we ran the “normal” route.  Major Pain promised to change things up when he queues the run as he is sick and tired of running the “normal” route.  Not sure how he can be sick and tired of a route that he still gets lost on but….  Make sure to watch for him on the queue schedule it will be a new and exciting run/ruck that no one will want to miss.

The normal, same old, boring run was progressing along uneventfully until Hop and I rounded the corner by the church drive before crossing over to food lion.  All of a sudden I heard shrieks that I would have swore were from Hop but they sounded more like his M.  His hat and light flew off and he started dancing around swiping at imaginary objects.  All the time shrieking and asking if there was a spider on him.  Then he started spitting (not very good etiquette during a COVID19 pandemic) thinking he had eaten the spider.  After assuring him there was no spider on him, Howie and I continued on our normal, same old, boring run.

My watch died about 4 miles in and TT was nice enough to inform me we had a minute left (and we still had 3/4 of a mile to cover).  We kicked it into high gear (its all relative) and ended up back at the parking lot a couple minutes late.  Everyone was hot and sweaty and covered between 5 and 6 miles.

After everyone left, I saw Hop getting ready to go back out to get 3 or so more miles – impressive, especially after all the jumping and dancing on spider turn.
