Rolling Stone APFT…COVID Edition
All Rolling Stone BackblastsJuly 14th, 2020
8 men knew it was coming and posted to see where they stood on a basic fitness level. The Army Physical Fitness Test. We changed things up a bit due to the need for social distancing, and for a bit of variety. It went something like this:
Mosey to portico directly next to lot for Warmarama: SSH, Penny Pickers, Mountain Climbers, Windmills
The Thang: The APFT
- 2 minute max push ups
- 2 minute max sit ups
- 2 mile run
We usually partner up for push ups and sit up, but went the OYO method this go round. Honor system regarding push up form and doing WW2 situps instead of partner anchoring ankles. It certainly sped things up not going in two waves for each exercise. The WW2s take a while, unless you are Manwich, and that was the true limiting factor for many as you just ran out of time.
The 2 mile run – haunted daycare route. Instead of the run from the front of the school, we ran from the lot to the haunted daycare and back. We should have run from the portico where we did the exercises, as that would have been a perfect 2 miles I believe. We had to run a little extra around the lot to get to the 2 mile mark.
Here are the RESULTS
COT: Prayers for our world in these troubled times and for the Lord to help us to keep accelerating as men. Happy Hour Thursday at JBs. Skywalker anniversary Friday…really…I’m not joking. Saturday F3 Albemarle, Stifler with the MeCa Q, let’s support the Stifmeister!
Moleskin: I personally enjoyed mixing things up a bit and we definitely finished much earlier than normal…as normal is running a bit late. The HD route seemed to be well received versus the mind numbing track laps that are the norm, it is just admittedly a bit more dangerous running on the streets and may be less of a good idea during months where we are in darkness until 0615. Tclaps to Hot Pack on a Rolling Stone record 2 mile time of 12:59…the man is fit and fast. That said, it pays to be old with the age adjusted scoring, and HP came in 3rd behind YHC and Soprano. Just get older and you will be fine HP. Chachi shaved almost 3 minutes off his previous 2 mile run, strong! Manwich’s 67 WW2 situps was ridiculous. YHC’s running continues to pay off as it was a PR on the 2 mile run by 7 seconds. Going for a perfect score of 300 within the next calendar year, it’s going to happen. Considering COVID and the high temp/humidity, that was a solid performance by all pax. That’s the type of recipe for some really bad performances, but that did not happen. It might also have something to do with the fact that this group is regularly posting (well kinda for Kilowatt…:) Let’s stay after it for when we get back to it in October…and YHC just put it on the calendar, 10/13, be ready. Aye!
