The Swamp of Afton
All Afton BackblastsJuly 11th, 2020
A muggy, swampy morning awaited the 5 pax of F3 Afton. YHC was beat with the last day of the Iron Q challenge that took him to 4 AOs over the 6 days. The plans were to wake up and head out for the 7am BD, but the week of 4:45am alarms had him up and ready to go at 5. So the ruck was packed up for the short ride over to Dorton. We pulled into the lot to find it packed with the launch of FiA Cabarrus and about 30 women (t-claps and congrats!). Chachi and YHC were the only two ready to roll at 6. Ruckers 2, Runners 0, not that anybody is keeping score. A quick intro, disclaimer was given and we were off for a mosey..
A quick loop around the tennis courts to the tee box of first hole of disk golf.

Next a mosey around the west side park to the end of the loop, stopping for Mountain Climbers x10 and Merkins x10. We exited the trail for some off-roading adventures in the trees between the houses and interstate. We emerged to the back of the neighborhood for Apollo Onos x10, Bobby Hurleys x10, Bonnie Blairs x10.
Our next stop was the bridge over the creek for a 10-1 ladder of merkins and squats. After each set, we ran to the opposite side of the bridge.
Back to the streets, our next destination was the Afton gazebo. We circled in and around the gazebo for a few stretching routines.
Off we go, to the brick wall in front of the Wine Room. Grab a spot along the wall for the following: Decline Merkins x10, Dips x10, Incline Plank Jacks x10, Step Ups x10/leg and Incline Merks x10.
We got out the hiking gear to leave the the swamps of Afton and for our ascent of the not so snowy peaks of Mount Afton, with slow lunges to the summit. As we reached the summit we lined up on the plateau for some parking line shuffles, up, to the right, back down, to the right, back up and so forth until we reached the end. Followed by some four corners action with a variety of 10 count merkins on each corner, Wide-Arms, Peter Parkers, Diamonds and Raised Legs.
Our time was wrapping, so we headed back the mountain to base camp for some Mary exercises.
