The Valley Travels To Highlands
All The Valley BackblastsJuly 8th, 2020
8 hard chargers got an early morning dose of speed this morning. The workout was as follows:
1.5 Mile Warm Up
4 X 10-15 second strides (quick sprints, light jog between)
4X1 Miles (threshold pace)
2-3 minutes light rest between intervals
Cool Down to 7 Miles (easy pace)
Everyone put in a good morning’s work and got it done!
Sweaty moleskin:
1) Yesterday, I was enjoying a nice leisurely walk with my M and our dogs along the greenway when I spotted what I thought to be one of my BMR brothers. But he wasn’t running so it was hard to tell. As he approached, he recognized me (which is weird because I also wasn’t running) and said hello. This turned into a brief conversation about what we’ve been up to, etc etc. My M actually mentioned to him that YHC would be at the HC Golf Club this morning and heading to the track from there at 5:30am sharp. He seemed taken aback by the launch time. I texted him the details with no response…oh well I thought. Then, when YHC arrived with 10 minutes to spare, there he was…ready to go! We did not name him even though this goes against Freed to Lead according to Grizzly (and he’s right). But this is F3 so we can pretty much do what we want! It’s so good seeing these groups coming together as they are very similar. Both are healthy brotherhoods with similar missions. I hope to see more of this going forward! Diversity is awesome!
2) The Nant’an himself, Heastroke, decided to join us this morning. Good to see you brother! He was almost completely matching, which anyone who knows YHC will know, I love. However, he was rocking purple shoes which threw off the whole outfit. Do better next time!
3) 2Step and Gentle Grizzly are battling it out on who is most frugal. YHC received separate messages from both of them saying they could not send the workout to their watches because their watches are old. As a demonstration of his resourcefulness, 2Step programmed the workout into his phone. As a counter demonstration to being frugal, he used a vest (think the one from Pulp Fiction basement scene) to hold said phone. Couldn’t you use the money you spent on the vest to help buy a new watch, 2Step?
4) Snape doubled down this morning by doing speed work with us at 5:30am and then meeting up with the Highlands men for their 6:30am run. He’s 54 years old. #strong #goals
5) Landlord ran to the track from his house, arrived during the last 10 minutes of the run, and then caught a ride home with Gentle Grizzly. Worded another way, he ran from home to catch a ride…back home???
6) Major Pain was out there knocking out laps and motivating himself like he’s always done. I’m still amazed by him completing that full iron man last year. He’s also a respect. #strong #goals #respect
7) No-H wasn’t there after quickly HCing via Slack but YHC has confirmed that he’s ok. Let the trash talking begin.
T-claps again to all. Doing that kind of mileage on a track is as much mental training as it is physical, which is why I love doing it. Hope to see y’all again soon.
