BB – Throwing Off the Weight
All BackBlasts BackblastsMarch 8th, 2020
Warm-Up
It was chilly but the PAX were just too cool. I knew it was going to be a great morning. Mosey around the AO since it wasn’t too muddy and get the heart rate up.
SSHx20
CP x 10
Plank to 10 Slow Mercs
Arm Circles
THE THANG:
Mosey to Rock Pile and grab a paver and don’t put it down. Pax was challenged to complete all exercises and repeat as needed without putting the block down for 5 min.
25 Curls
25 Overhead Press
25 Skull Crushers
25 Rows
25 Goblin Squats
25 Lunges
Throw the block as far as you can out into the “yard.” Farthest distance “wins” and gets to lead our core exercises.
Mosey back around AO the long way and stop at our Mary spot
Scooter won the 1st round so he led us in 25 IC of the following: LBC, KGB, Scissor Kicks, W’s
Run back to rock pile and repeato except starting with lunges; go for 5 min!
Throw the weight off again, but this time the shortest distance wins!
Mosey around to Mary spot with Cupid leading 25 IC of the following: Freddy Mercs, the other 2 must have been really tough b/c I have blocked them out of my mind, ended with 25 IC count of BallstotheWall
Run back to rock pile and repeat but in any order you choose and throw your weight one more time
Run around AO the “wrong way” (it may have been a ASEC first to run near Hwy 3) and back to rock pile for one last round of, “pass the rock”. This worked pretty well once we got in rhythm as you would do one exercise and then pass your block quickly. Got through 3 rounds and finished with 10 manmakers for good measure.
Mary called with some alt. Superman and alt. Superman/IronMan
Hold Plank while QIC gave a quick sermon on the value of throwing off your weight and allowing your brothers to help you carry your weight at times.
MOLESKIN:
8 for a Saturday is pretty rad. I had received some disappointing news about a potential job opportunity that I really thought God was leading me towards late this week and thought of no better “release” then incorporating into my Q. The goal was to feel the weight, I mean really feel it and the 5 min. constant workout seemed to work well. Then, you throw off the weight with all you have! You also let others share the weight sometimes, which is where the shared core piece came into play.
Scooter and Spud can throw a rock. While others may have had solid techniques, these two were the clear winners when it came to throwing off that weight. There was good chatter and a good pace to each part of the workout. Each piece had a burn of its own. Since some PAX were nursing injuries, the plan really seemed to work well with the limited running but the heart rates stayed high.
There are a few things I have learned through this job process.
- God will lead you to a point. It may not be THE point you originally thought He was leading you to, but He will take you exactly where you need to be.
- We shouldn’t just pursue God and His will and His direction when we face a big decision or tough spot in life, we should pursue Him always! It’s in the daily pursuit where we really grow and can use what He has taught us each step of the way.
- Hebrews 12:1 says, “Let us throw off the weight and the sin that so easily entangles us and let us run the race with endurance which Christ Jesus has set before us.” We carry too many burdens and thoughts and struggles that God never intended us to carry. Sometimes, He wants to carry the weight for us and sometimes He doesn’t want us to pick it up in the first place. Leave your worry and doubt and desire to be something different than God created you to be at the door. Throw it out; throw it far away. And then RUN, and I mean run, this great race of life that Jesus has created for you. He has set a path for you and He has gone before you so just take His hand and walk or run or jog or whatever you need to do. Trust Him. He won’t let you down.
It’s always a pleasure to lead and to share life with other men who are pursuing the gift of “more” that Jesus promised. F3 has shown me that I have a lot more inside of me than I often realize. Many times, I just need someone to push me forward. Let’s keep pushing and encouraging each other and let’s run this race together.
Faithfully Serving,
MM
