Pops turns 77, so 7s it shall be
All Rolling Stone BackblastsFebruary 4th, 2020
9 Stoners emerged into the mild “suck it bros” temperatured (real word, look it up, trust me) gloom to do some work and to honor YHC’s father’s 77th birthday. Disclaimer given. 77 burpees, go! JK. And we’re off.
Warmarama: As we make our way to the front of the school and back to the main teacher’s lot, we butt kick, high knee, side shuffle, elbow to ankle/calf/knee (probably Love Seat here,) and carioca.
- SSH X 14
- Hill Billy X 14
- WM X 14
- Crab Jack X 14
The pax were confused by the 14 reps. 7+7 (dad’s age) = 14. Oooooohhhh
The Thang: 2 circuits. 7 reps of exercise. Run half way around circle. 7 reps of another exercise. Back to 1st exercise. 7 rounds total. See there – 7s
- At front of school using Sharknado loop
- Burpees
- Butterfly sit ups (for the Cabarrus Ruck Club challenge)
- It’s funny how the Pax’s ability to do math is extremely accurate when you have a pile of burpees staring at you – they were quick to realize they were looking at 49
Mosey to where bricks are near the playground. Grab said bricks.
- Overhead squats (also helping with the Cabarrus Ruck Club challenge)
- Find wall. People’s chair with brick presses. In cadence. Yes, that makes about 14 reps of those.
- YHC set pax up for presses against wall with muddy footing, we almost lost a few. Audible! to portico wall with sound footing and continue.
Replace bricks and head to the Kareem Abdul Jabbar Entertainment Center.
Mary: The CRC challenge had squats, butterfly sit ups and…hand release merkins! Haven’t done any of those yet, time to change that. We mixed in 7 HR Merkins in with LBCs, Pretzel crunches, low flutters, rosalita, low dollies, alternating between merkins and abs. Looks like we only got to 6 sets of merkins, so go ahead and do 7 more at home to round out the set of 7…then add one more to get to 50.
COT: Happy birthday to my dad! His birthday is actually on Friday, but this is the official tribute Q. Your continued prayers for him as he deals with cancer and ALL that goes with it, is every much appreciated. Same goes for my mom, as the burden of caretaking is very real. Prayers to Love Seat’s friend’s family who has had their father recovering from a stroke and mother who was just diagnosed with MS. Prayers for injured pax that would have loved to be out on this 60 degree February morning.
Moleskin: Steel Cannon would have made 10 today, but he “owned it” saying he stayed up too late. Hell, I went to the Hornets game last night, no excuses son!! Sugar paced the pack in the burpee circuit, until burpee savant Manwich made a late rally. Still, Sugar belies his age out there, it’s why I voted for him for the Respect award. Sparky probably should be in the running for the Iron Man award, as it seems he posts at least 5 times a week. Maybe need a Respect division of awards to be fair to all the great ones in MeCa. I really wasn’t trying to get y’all to slip and drop bricks on your head doing the wall presses…really…I wasn’t. Great to see Kumho back out after some travel and illness. Rofus revealed himself as some kind of age supremacist with the comment to YHC about not knowing scenes from Young Frankenstein with “someone of your age should know it.” Good to run the “half mile of death” post workout with Soprano and Love Seat #weshouldrunthegreenwayinstead. I’d mention the one pax I haven’t mentioned yet, but he never posts BBs for his Qs, so not happening #thisisn’tf3skywalker. That said, at least he Qs, right Soprano? Time to pop Kumho’s cherry on that one as well. Maybe I shouldn’t have concluded by dad’s birthday backblast with that reference, but oh well.
