A Little Bit of This, A Little Bit of That

All BackBlasts Backblasts

January 31st, 2020 By Grandmaster

A lucky 13 Pax gathered in the chilly, pre-snow gloom to get a little more fit and a little less warm.  YHC had tried to settle on a workout for about 12 hours and couldn’t decide what the best course of action would be. So, what to do, but do it all. We had some plate work, some body work, some core work and, as always, a lot of complaining.  SirTopEm and FireChicken were worried that the Mad Cats would be back, but the kitties were left in the cage for now. They will be back, but this morning it went something like this.

Mosey to level one of the deck for WARMAROMA:

20 SSHs IC, 15 ISTs IC, 10 BSNs IC, 5 Burpees and Arm Circles Fore and Aft

THANG 1: The large(ish) numbers necessitated a minor change of plans as FireChicken had a limited number of plates in his truck. Having counted six plate in the truck, Q called out six pax to go to the truck while the remaining 7 went to the small plate pile.  Somehow one of the truck pax got lost (a minor theme for the morning) and ended up at the plate pile. Not going to mention any names, but he’s the only one named after a Tom Cruise movie, from the 80’s, that involves questionable financial dealings.

Anyway, we all made it back to lower level of the parking deck with a plate and circled up. One pax ran a timer up two ramps and down the stairs while the rest performed the following exercises: curls, skull crushers, bent over rows, chest press, squats and lunges.  We completed three circuits of the exercises.  FNG Sean’s first turn up the ramps took a little longer than most. Apparently he tried exit the upper level through the utility closet. Too bad we already have a pax named Wrong Turn. Anyway after three sets it was on to

THANG 2: Pax ran up a ramp and stopped at the first turn and performed 10 reps of Mike Tyson merkins then ran up to the level and started doing People’s Chair Toe Touches. The trick was each pax started as soon as they got to the level and continued until the six had performed 10 reps.  Then the PAX continued up the next ramp together to the next turn and repeated with merkins, then squats, carolina dry docks, lunges and burpees.  This kept the pax together, but kept the fast guys moving.  No reward for running fast. Head back down the stairs to the first level for

THANG 3: Pax assumed high plank position shoulder to shoulder and slid a plate from one end of the line to the other, then back down. A similar position was assumed with people’s chair and the plate was passed down the line and back. Repeat both line dances for full effect.  Circle up for and abbreviated MARY consisting of some planks on each arm.

The point this morning was keep everyone together to get to know our FNG Sean and a guest from Wilmington, Shoots and Ladders, who came to meet up with Gunny. Gunny had EHed SandL while at a conference in Raleigh. One of the more unusual EH stories you’ll hear.

COT: FNG Sean shall now and forever more be named Thebes. Sean is a huge Spartan race participant with around 17 last year and plans for 30 this year. Thebes is the country that destroyed Sparta, so the name fits pretty well. Good job EHing another man and coming up with an awesome name SirTopEm.

Prayers for the Johnson family and Parkwood Church as they mourn the loss of Anita.  Prayers also Ragnar and the Chester family as his Grandfather passed away late Thursday night.

MOLESKIN: Seriously had a hard time deciding on what kind of pain to bring this morning but a good time was had by all. Thanks for all the encouragement, push and support you have given me in the past. Do the same for all the people in your life and watch your world change.

In HIS Service,
