Kick the Door Down or Go Through the Wall! Never Give Up!
All Concord BackblastsJanuary 29th, 2020
20 of Americas Finest met in a sketchy parking lot behind a sketchy theatre to participate in a tradition
known to very few. It was a chilly 30 degrees but you wouldn’t have known it with all anticipation of
the sacrifice that was coming. Those who didn’t make it (you know who you are – no need for
shaming), I wish you no one ill will, but would be ok with a little Regret.

Moleskin:
I had put this day off long enough and Bay City knew it. Mountie and Mayweather applied the pressure and anxiety early, staring the day prior and never letting up. The Mrs. knew I had to do it and she offered her own support at 9pm the night before, as I am a well seasoned procrastinator “you better prepare, you don’t want to F*** it up, they will all laugh at you” (our marriage is built on Trust, No Sympathy, and No Whining). The workout needed to be original and punishing to live up to the expectations that where voiced by my fellow Pax. It was quickly made aware of the Q’s lack of rhythm, as everyone did a few extra Hillbillies due to the Q’s poor leadership/counting. A new exercise was brought out, the “Mike Tyson”, I was exposed to this little treat at the most recent Gremlin. It looks unassuming, but the pax quickly realized how it got its name, my favorite quote by Tyson explains it “Everyone has a plan till they get punched in the mouth”, that exercise punches you right in face. The Q shot out of the gun fast, running on adrenaline and the Mrs. words ringing in his ears (Firechicken warned his inexperienced eager Q to slow down, but it fell on deaf ears). As the Pax started moving, chatter was rampant about this and that, but it would fade by the top of the Deck as Tyson awaited to punch each Pax right in the Face. Grover quickly reeled the inexperienced Q in and put him in his place as only Grover can do. Firechicken and Private Ryan soon followed suit and as if to say “Not Today”, strolled on by with ease during the second round. Scooter would soon catch the Q as well and remind him that he still has a lot to learn. Ace joined the Q during their final round and finished strong.
Everyone finished 3 to 4 rounds with tired legs. Coffee at GWC was joined by Bay City to show his support and to hear of the great Triumph that was sure to have happened. Mountie BOUGHT MY COFFEE and then I let him down, not by spilling the coffee (which I am very good at), but by not
remembering one name for the backblast – MOUNTIE!! Your coffee is on me next time.
In all seriousness, this group has been the best thing to happen to me in a long time. If Catfish had not been so persistent in ragging me to come out every morning at GWC, I am not sure where I would be today. I have been on prescription pain meds since I was 20 and haven’t experienced a pain free day since I was probably 14. I have Klippel Feil Syndrome which is fusion of the neck vertebrae at birth (which is why I am crooked even when I think I am standing straight). I’ve been on as much as 200 mg of morphine a day to control the pain over the last 14 years and because of you guys I am down to 30mg a day from 100 mg eight months ago and hope to cut it again in a few weeks. I say all of this, because we all have our challenges and crappy hands we get dealt in life sometimes and we all handle it our own way. Just when you think you have it bad and the world is out to get you, take a deep breath, look around, turn on the TV, and you’ll quickly realize that there is always someone who has it worse than you. If the door in front of you closes, kick it open, if you can't, step to the side and go through the wall! Getting up every morning, no matter how much I hurt some days, and working out with you guys has helped me more than I could have ever imagined. The physical activity and mental break/drive this group provides has helped my pain greatly and helped me deal with the pain more effectively. So, if you see me dragging, or complaining in the morning, feel free to tell me to quit being a P**** and to Man Up. I look forward to growing with you Men and know that I am always here if any of you ever need anything at all, (I know a guy that can get rid of problems big or small).
