Clover achieves Half Marathon Goal!
All East Charlotte BackblastsJanuary 1st, 2020
Tuesdays are our normal “run days” in the Hill but today is extra special. This is the day Clover decided he would throw caution to the wind and try to attain the goal of running a half marathon sub 2 hours 15 min. To help him achieve that goal he will need a support team of HIM’s!.
I arrived at the Vet at 0520 to find H&S’s truck and Clovers car already there but they are no where in site. Then I notice they are already running, a little pre-run I guess, so I inquire. Looks like they were “warming” up with a few miles before we take off. Wait, who is that running with Clover? His niece visiting for the holidays. Nice! a #HIF at his side. Runs in the family.
I suit up, get ready and notice they are not stopping. They go right from the warm-up to the road with only one mindset: keep a 10 min/mi pace and beat the goal. Booyah and Cecile (remember him?!) also posted to join the fun. We all follow after Clover out to Hwy 218 for the first 6 miles.
We make a left and continue down and into Wilgrove Park, back out and right on Wilgrove, make a right on Nelson, first left and go to 51. Make another right on 51 and turn around just before the “hill” (clover wants a flat run, no hills!), then back down 218 towards the Vet.
Back at the Park H&S did a quick change-a-roo while Clover kept running, focused on his time. I joined Clover for one more lap around the Park. Then H&S and Clover’s niece became his wing man/woman once more as he exited the park for his last 5 miles.
As Booyah, Cecile and I said our goodbyes, in rolls Manbun wanting in on the action. Unfortunately for him, he thought it was 0530 and was wondering why we were leaving so soon 🙂 It was really 0630. Manbun stated he “must have misread his clock”. Oh boy! However, he could have went home discouraged. Instead, Booyah, the HIM he is, offered to lug Manbun up the road to catch up the group. Making lemonade out of lemons, Mr. Bun got in the car and took off. #strong!
I heard Clover succeeded and beat his goal by 4 minutes (2 hrs and 11 min). Congrats brother, really strong work. I/we knew you had it in you all the time Next year, sub 2 hour 1/2, AYE?!

Just goes to show you brothers that you can do anything you put your mind to, especially when your F3 brothers have your back and support you along the way. Set some goals this year and lean on us to help you grab that brass ring. We are here for you!! #ISI. AYE!
