Juarez Valley Prison
All Highlands BackblastsDecember 17th, 2019
The gloom was an eerily warm 59 degrees as a PAX of 11 were welcomed with downpours amidst intermittent thunder and lightening. Prison pain was in the air as YHC had a Juarez Valley Prison plan for this morning. Born out of one of the world’s most dangerous penitentiaries, this beatdown doesn’t let small spaces prohibit big gains. https://www.muscleandfitness.com/workouts/workout-routines/jailhouse-strong-pushup-challenge Even though the PAX would be treated like prisoners, lightening and open spaces don’t make for a safe environment, so everyone gathered under the portico for…
WARMARAMA:
Alcatraz’s Standard – if you don’t know it, you can look at a previous backblast
THE THANG:
PAX was divided into the Juarez Cartel and the Sinaloa Cartel (actual rival gangs in Mexico) and each man claimed a prison cell sized piece of concrete. The Juarez Valley Prison (JVP) workout consists of 20 sets. Odd sets start at 20 reps and descend to 11. Even sets start at 1 rep and ascend to 10. Between each set everyone takes a walk to the other side of their cell and back.
20 sets of Merkins via the JVP
The cartels sent out their respective champion to see who could arrive at 100 jumps while the remaining PAX sprinted in place. Sinaloa Cartel was represented by @NextDoor and YHC volunteered for Juarez Cartel as it was clear @Brinkley would not be volunteering for anything that involved a jump rope. Juarez prevailed and Sinaloa paid a penalty of 30 LBCs.
20 sets of Lunges via the JVP
The jump rope challenge was issued again with @#1 for Juarez and @DutchBoy for Sinaloa. Sinaloa prevailed this round and Juarez paid the penalty with 30 squats. Too bad all gang wars can’t be decided so easily.
20 sets of Plank Jack via the JVP
MARY:
A variation of the JVP with LBCs for sets 1 and 2, then Reverse Crunch for sets 3 and 4 with some lumbar stretch in between sets. Repeato for sets 5, 6, 7 and 8.
COT and BOM!
THE PRISON MOLESKIN:
- Great work today men! The Merkin set is already leaving a mark that will probably be worse in the morning for YHC.
- Arriving by foot proved to be a wet choice for @Brinkley as the rain came down hard around 0525.
- YHC completely forgot to offer up a disclaimer, but there was a playlist. Looks like someone needs to review the Q School handout in one’s own computer.
- Remember @PonyBoy’s friend, Renee Davies, as she has been diagnosed with cancer.
- There are still opportunities to join @Ambassador’s effort to eradicate lunch debt in our public schools. Look for more info on the Highlands Slack channel. It should be posted soon.
- Today’s prison workout surprisingly avoided a deluge of prison related jokes, but then @Murdock wasn’t there. However, be careful around @Ambassador as he seemed disappointed when the Barry White song ended. Can’t help you there my brother. #NotThatKindOfMensGroup
Always an honor to lead the PAX!
