Did we steal FiA’s meeting spot for our cardio beatdown?
All Highlands BackblastsDecember 13th, 2019
I got up at 2:30 to use the bathroom and thought to myself that it the rain kept up like that, I might even fartsack my own Q. But as I had a hard time falling back asleep, I started thinking about our servicemen and servicewomen who are sleeping on cots inside tents in regions around the world under brutal climates and conditions. When their alarm clock goes off, they don’t get to decide if they will get up base on weather (“Sorry captain, but let me know when that sand storm is over and I’ll get out of bed!”). So I sucked it up, and showed up for my Q, and was it raining hard. I was still somewhat hoping that nobody would show up so I could go back to my nice dry and warm bed. But soon after I arrived, I saw 4 cars with the first one being the school custodian, and the other 3 looked like our fine friends from FiA. Then I noticed at @sandbag massive truck from a distance followed by @gordo’s beamer coming along. Both men looked pretty intimidating with their tuques (aka beanies), and with their game face on. Unfortunately, and with a guilt trip from @gordo, the FiA crowd left and might have set camp at the middle school since YHC had the agility ladders, hurdles, etc. lined up in front of HCE. The disclaimer was given followed by a little caveman run, which is basically high knees while leaving against the wall as a substitute for moseying in the rain.

In between Resistance Bands and the agility ladder drills, we performed some Green Bays to the delight of the PAX. The Green Bay was performed to the song of Thunderstruck and consist of chopping your feet as fast as you can in stationary position. Every time the words thunder or thunderstruck are mentioned in the song, you drop down and do a burpee and pop right back up and continue with feet chopping of the feet. There is about 30ish thunder/thunderstruck within the song that lasts over 3 minutes so you can imagine………..

- Let’s start to an apology for our sisters from FiA if the front of HCE is where they typically meet. I’ve never seen them there before but feel terrible if we took their spot.
- Thanks to @gordo and @sandbag for joining YHC this am. Without your presence i would have gone back to bed. But i am certainly better for attending!
- It is amazing how warm you can get in 35F and rainy weather. It didn’t take us long to start losing our layers, hats, gloves, etc. Maybe that was what chased away FiA!
- As mentioned above, let’s remember our troops in days like this when the weather is simply crappy and imagine the conditions they have to face!! I simply can’t be grateful enough to be able to do what i do in miserable weather like today, but man is it ever small inconvenience versus what they face!!
- Let’s continue pushing one another as we enter the cold and wet season so we can hold each other accountable. I will certainly need the motivations of others to show up when cold, wet, or because of other excuses.
- As Christmas gets near, let’s remember that it is Jesus’ birthday. Therefore as we give our family members gifts, let’s not forget to give Jesus his gift! That should be our most generous gifts which should be through your local church, and other non-profit organization you support.
- Very fortunate to be part of this fantastic group!
- Have a great weekend, and as always it was a pleasure (after you showed up) to lead this morning.
