Bird Flair (not to be confused with Rick! WHOOOO)
All The Dawg House BackblastsDecember 10th, 2019
Sunday morning, as I was drinking a nice warm cup of coffee, I opened the slack app to find Tuesdays run with no Q! What’s this I said?! A date with no Q?! How did this happen?! How could I allow this in my Uecktatorship?! This had to be corrected immediately! I jumped into the calendar and quickly signed up so no one would see the shame of an open calendar date on our Q Sheet!
Tuesday morning, ahh 55 degrees a bit of a breeze, and fresh legs after a weekend off. This was going to be a great run, as I pulled into the parking lot with yet another new vehicle, I heard rumblings of Talladega shaking the weasel tree, but sadly there was no Talladega. I was looking forward to showing off this new rental! I told Spauldini that I wanted to be like him, so I chose this vehicle, (no its not a Cabriolet), but he told me he didn’t do new cars, and I should keep trying. Spauldini is rubbing off on Torch, because now we had 2 ruckers running with us! Torch did great keeping up the group considering he hasn’t done a run in quite some time. I think he just wanted some alone time with his “dad”, Pharaoh. As we ran the bird I would here the pitter patter of some quick feet fly by, the only reason I knew it was Habs was the neon light vest that shined the color blue for his beloved New York Yankees team! Love Boat was trucking along and near the end of the run told me the mental battle was tough today, he only ran 6 miles at a 7 minute pace. It was great to have Rerun back out after healing from the hamstring injury from the 12 days of Christmas, told ya that was a bad idea Talladega! Hop Hunter was very chatty today, he must have had some coffee this morning, because he was early. Maybe he just missed me this weekend?
Moleskin- I wanted to send a quick thank you to everyone for their help this year. Taking over as MQ was not in my plans for 2019, and never did I think I would be asked to lead this great group of men. I appreciate all of the support you guys give and the push to go beyond the limits I set for myself. The past 6 months of training for this weekend have been mentally and physically tough. My toe nails are different colors, my toes look like they have been in a war, I lost a little weight, gained some back, and I have probably ran over 120 miles in training. I went from struggling to finish a weekday run, to running 3 days a week and enjoying it more than the beatdowns at times. Today was the last weekday run before the 13.1 and as I was running, I thought of all the memories from training and it brought me sense of pride that I have made it to this moment. So thank you to the Dawgs, and a special thank you to Hop Hunter, Tug Boat Willie, Habs, Pharoah, YellowCake, Booter, Speedo, Hokie Pokie, 4-wide, Terrible Towel, Talladega, Wexler, and Flip Phone for all the run days and push to keep me going. Lastly Thank you to Spauldini. If it weren’t for his initial push to get me out I wouldn’t be here today. (so you have him to blame for me!)
SYITG!
