MeCa Twitter
All Afton BackblastsJuly 6th, 2019
Howdy gents! YHC just wanted to check in with y’all about something: Twitter. Yes, Slack is awesome and is (and will continue to be) our primary mode of communication throughout the region. But Slack is a closed-system for just us, and using an open-to-the-public mode of communication has its uses as well. Enter Twitter.
There is a decent chance you have seen pax posting on Twitter in regards to beatdowns with #f3counts @f3meca and a corresponding AO twitter account. This has two primary functions. One: tweets that contain #f3counts and @f3meca/or a MeCa AO twitter handle are automatically pulled into the Slack channel #mecacounts so that we can keep an eye on the numbers for the region. #mecacounts is a channel you are free to join (or not) if you so desire. Two: these tweets (like backblasts) promote to the “outside world” that our region, and our AOs, are alive, well and active.
In a perfect world, this is how it would work: Q leads beatdown then tweets out the numbers for said BD from their personal Twitter account. Make sure to include #f3counts, the AO twitter account, and the @f3meca account. Tweet is then pulled into the #mecacounts channel and will also be retweeted by your AO Twitter account and the MeCa twitter account. Of course, we don’t live in a perfect world, as not all pax have Twitter and/or know this is something we do. Hence this blast. If the Q is unable to tweet numbers from their own accounts, all AOs have Twitter accounts that are supposed to act as a backup. Generally the AO Twitter accounts are run by the Master Q of the AO, but it certainly doesn’t have to. I’m sure any MQ would be happy to have someone else step up and take this small responsibility.
I’d personally encourage all pax to create a Twitter account. I have one, and it is solely for F3 and the above activity. F3 Nation’s primary mode of communication outside of our region is Twitter. It is pretty effective in keeping up with what is going on nationally for F3, and also for reaching out when you might be looking for a down range workout when you are out of town.
Wrapping up. Let’s do our best to tweet workout numbers, whether by the Q’s Twitter account, or the AO’s. I’m telling you, it’s not hard. Many times I tweet #s for a beatdown I lead from the car before I leave the AO. The hardest part can be picking out which ridiculous gif you would like to use if you haven’t otherwise taken a picture/video during the workout.
Keep up the great work boys!
