Running Does Pay Off

At 5:00 a.m. there stood four men in the HT parking lot ready to log a few miles.
After a brief hello or grumble, everyone set their tracking devices and we were off. The group headed out of the parking lot onto Hwy.51 and towards Veterans Park. The route runs past a few dining establishments and as luck would have it there in the the path was none other than Pres. Lincoln laying on the sidewalk. The lucky runner (H&S) pointed out that two of his companions had stepped over the piece of linen so the luck was his. The run continued up 51 and took a right on Hwy.218 and towards the park for a quick turnaround and then back the same route. As luck would have it in almost the exact place where Lincoln was found, there was none other than Andrew Jackson just waiting to be found by Clover. The lucky 1 now grew to the lucky 2 so the chatter then turns to Gremlin and how he had actually upped the game now. The route continued down 51 to the HT parking lot to drop a runner and then back on 51 for the remaining 3 to get a few extra miles.
The total of the run was 5.2 miles which was a little short of the planned 6.0 miles but as always, the conversation was honest and uplifting. The takeaway of today’s run was “it does pay off to run” so we welcome all runners/treasure hunters alike to join us. We never know if “Gremlin” will send coins or dollars, but nonetheless we know that there is always the (+1) running with us.
