Tar Heel Love Festival with a 4 Corner Trap
11 Men felt the chill of the air but quickly warmed their hearts with an intriguing run of the ol’ 4 corners.
Mosey to Nuclear Plant for quick Warm-0-Roma
SSH x 20 IC
Cotton Pickers x 10
Mt. Climbers x 23 (and we all knew the Tar Heel love had started!)
Mosey to the top of the deck to begin the 4 Corner trap!
Each pax would complete a set number of exercises to represent the number of an all-time great UNC alum. All Pax were numbered off as a random number would be called at the start of the exercise. While all other PAX would complete the set exercise and run 1 lap and a 1/4 to the next corner, the called PAX would run down the stairwell, across, and back up the stairs, to try to “trap” the PAX and tag them. If a PAX was tagged, they would immediately drop and give 5 burpees in honor of two amazing Heels PGs, Ed Cota & Marcus Paige.
Round 1: Shoulder Explosion – 23 reps – Do I really need to explain WHO we honored?!
Corner 1: 12 Burpees
Corner 2: 11 Walk-Out Mercs (23 total!)
Corner 3: 12 Side-Plank Pushups
Corner 4: 11 Carolina Dry Docks (23 total!)
Round 2: Abs for Days – 33 Reps in honor of Charlie Scott ( I may have taken a barb or two from Catfish when I tried to explain I remembered him:)
Corner 1: 33 Freddy-Mercs
Corner 2: 33 WWII (on a 1-2 count)
Corner 3: 33 Box Cutters (1-2 count)
Corner 4: 33 LBCs
Round 3: LEGS and LEGS – 50 reps in honor of “one” of the greatest college bball players ever Tyler Hansbrough (I did concede that David Thompson, but NOT Christian Laettner should be in the mix)
Corner 1: 25 Star Jumps
Corner 2: 25 Lunges (50 total!)
Corner 3: 50 Mtn Climbers
Corner 4: 50 Air Squats
1 Additional set of 32 KGBs were added at the end to honor LUKE MAYE! I’m not saying that he hit the 3 to take us to OT today and ultimately allowed us to win because we honored him with our last exercise, but I’m not saying it wasn’t because of us either!
Mosey back to AO
Mary: Lite Broga stretching and 1 final set of J-Lo’s to 23 in honor of Catfish!
Moleskin: Surprisingly, we covered about 3.4 miles today while having a great time. I loved everyone’s attitude and effort. Most PAX were tagged at least once today with the exception of Pvt. Ryan who has moves like Jagger. Catfish almost escaped as he claimed Cupid “cheated.” While Catfish did catch me, I made him earn it! This was a ton of fun and a pleasure to lead. I wanted to get a good circuit workout in that everyone could burn some calories with but have a great time doing it; mission accomplished! Big shout-out to Krispy Tiger for pushing through and NEVER stopping! Show Spud and Indy some love for pulling the Heels to victory today as I am sure glad they won or this would just not have been as meaningful! We had a great Q source with Kannon after the workout and talked about iron sharpening iron and mentorship! Be one and have one.
Prayers for Catfish’s coworker the Consuegra (sp?) family, and our youth pastor’s wife, Anita, whose cancer has returned. I also want to give a big shout-out to KGB as it sounds like he is moving on to a new season and chapter of his life. Personally, he was one of the first guys that took me in and encouraged me and has always been a pretty righteous dude in my eyes. Know we are praying for you KGB and trusting that God will lead you every step.
It was a great pleasure to lead and serve today. I’d be lying if I told you guys that this has gotten “easy” but I’d really be lying if I told you all that I’m not a better man in so many ways because of you all and F3. Let’s keep encouraging each other, praying for each other, and, as we learned today, seek out the opportunity presented to mentor and be mentored.
“To this end also we pray for you always, that our God will count you worthy of your calling, and fulfill every desire for goodness and the work of faith with power, so that the name of our Lord Jesus will be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.”
