What would possess a guy to get up at 3:00 am, then drive an hour to run up a mountain at 5:30 in the morning? Who knows? Ask the 15 MeCa Pax that did just that this morning in the annual running of the Fellowship of the Idiots – a 19.5 mile run from the Stanly County YMCA to the top of Morrow Mountain and back.

This is a challenging course in both directions. There are plenty of rolling hills along the course besides the big one. As mountains go, Morrow Mountain doesn’t compare to the peaks in the western part of our state, but it is quite a challenge none-the-less. The looks on the 1st time Idiots faces at the base of the mountain was priceless, but all were up to the challenge and made it to the top and back.

Congrats to 1st time Idiots!: Urlacher, Glock, Chicken Strip, Laser, Pocahantas, Pharoah, Talladega, Hop Hunter, Landlord, and Scooter.
