Frodo is getting coal in his stocking this year!
All Highlands BackblastsDecember 13th, 2018
Nine men showed up at Highland Creek Elementary School this morning and were pleased to find that the parking lot was almost completely clear of snow and ice. After a quick yet thorough disclaimer the PAX was off for a short mosey up to the bus lot for…..

THE THANG
With today’s date being December 13, YHC realized that there were only 12 days left until Christmas. This brought to mind the traditional “Twelve Days of Christmas” beatdown that @Frodo used to subject us to back when he still tortured us with regular posts. With a little tweaking to bring the challenge back down to at least a normal level, here’s how it all went down.
The PAX gathered at the edge of the Dropcloth 200 track where YHC had placed twelve exercise cards around the perimeter as follows:
10 Side Straddle Hops
20 Carolina Dry Docks
30 Merkins
40 Air Squats
50 Dips on Curb
60 Little Baby Crunch
70 Reverse Crunch
80 Imperial Strom Troopers
90 Low Flutters
100 Arm Circles
110 Apollo Ohno
120 Freddy Mercury
The PAX was instructed to complete the first exercise and then run a full lap around the Dropcloth 200 track. Next they completed the first and second exercises, moving to a new station each time. The process continued cumulatively with a lap run each time you added a new exercise. The (nearly impossible) goal was to complete all twelve stations before time ran out. Most of the leaders got to lap nine before time was (mercifully) called. At 6:10 AM we gathered up the cards and mosey back down to the parking lot for Mary.

- There was a lot of grumbling from the PAX about the order of the exercises, particularly the back-to-back upper body (CDD and Merkins) as well as the back-to-back abdominals (LBC and Reverse Crunch). YHC was fairly lenient about the order of the exercises and allowed for some rearranging to give some relief between sets. You’re welcome.
- @Frodo’s original layout included 10 burpees instead of the SSH and 70 calf raises instead of the reverse crunches. I thought that some substitution was needed to prevent us from dying out there this morning. Again, you’re welcome.
- @Buffalo Bill set a furious pace out there but I don’t think that there is any way someone could possibly finish this beatdown in just 45 minutes. This might be better suited for a Saturday when we have a full hour to finish. Also 100+ of any exercise is a lot to ask. I didn’t think I would ever get through the 70 reverse crunches.
- Just a reminder that the Gremlin is scheduled for Saturday January 19 and the Winter Gala is scheduled for Saturday January 26. Please check slack or the weekly email for more details.
- Thanks to everyone who posted today. It was great getting back out there after a five day layoff. I’m sure that I will be feeling it later today. It is always an honor to lead the PAX.
