Three Segment Velocity Interval Cruise
All The Valley BackblastsSeptember 10th, 2018
10 men met this morning, launching from Stonebridge Church, to seek Segment glory…well at least one man (Landlord) was. YHC decided to use The Valley Velocity/Hill training workout to tour some of the longer and hillier Strava segments near the Wellington Neighborhood. We used the cruise to the start of the first segment as a warmup and did recovery runs between segments.
Segment: Road to das ende. .6 miles and flat. Landlord took off in serious fashion and set a new MECA mark which was only 8 seconds short of the All Time crown
Segment: Fairlea Hill. .4 miles all up hill. Urlacher and Metro killed it, posting a time placing #4 and #5 on the MECA Leaderboard.
Segment: Katelyn Dr. climb. .5 miles, rolling hills. Metro wanted this. He even took off early and ran a few hundred yards before being called back. Finally released, Metro killed it, setting the #2 All Time mark, just 2 seconds short of Landlord’s mark set previously. Urlacher and 2-Step also claimed places #4 and #7 on the MECA Leaderboard.
This was a lot of fun, mixing up the pace, and having measurables. We will do this again and I am sure records will fall in cooler weather.
It was great doing this with a good sized group. We named former FNG Big Bertha. It is good to see Gentle Grizzley running again. Metro is killing it….look out Landlord. we joked that Landlord only came out because he has some kind of Footpath algorithm that senses when we are running a course where his segment crowns are in danger. Everyone is running strong. Great job everyone.
