Cow Appreciation Day!

“There is something in us, as storytellers and as listeners to stories, that demands the redemptive act, that demands that what falls at least be offered the chance to be restored. The reader of today looks for this motion, and rightly so, but what he has forgotten is the cost of it. His sense of evil is diluted or lacking altogether, and so he has forgotten the price of restoration. When he reads a novel, he wants either his sense tormented or his spirits raised. He wants to be transported, instantly, either to mock damnation or a mock innocence.” – Flannery O’Connor
We ran down ’round the roundie loop-de-do, and then to the Presbyterian property where we commenced with SSH x 15 IC, Monkey H’s x 15 IC, Peter Parkers x 10 IC, Windmillss x 15 IC, and Imperial Walkers x 20 IC (with 10 merkins in between each …which comes to 50 merkins). Then a lap ’round the building, stopping to do 30 sit-ups at each corner (for a total of 120 sit-ups). Then another lap, stopping to do 25 merkins at each corner (which brings our merkin total up to 150!). Then run up the hill to the benches for some dips and derkins x 10 (ea.) IC (…merkins @ 170!!). Then run up the tipity top of the hill for lunge-walk, bear crawl protocol …with 10 merkins happening at each “island” …which puts us at 220 merkins, and 120 sit-ups for the day. Then we run back to the Simmons and we run from one round-a-bout to the other – to and fro – until we reach the 2 mile objective.

“Only if we are secure in our beliefs can we see the comical side of the universe.”
